Tiny takeout spot that serves an amazing breakfast sandwich. Seriously this sandwich is so good! Le Monde Sandwich: English muffin with ham, tomato, avocado, egg and cheese. The perfect blend of mayo and mustard. And a great price, too. If I lived in Ottawa I'd get it everyday.

I stopped by Cafe Le Monde for some lunch on a Friday and overall it was good. Cafe Le Monde is a little cafe inside an office building. They are only open during weekdays. They are what I would expect from such a cafe, lots of "safe" items that appeal to most people, nothing too creative nor unique, but they are good for what they are. I got a roast beef sandwich, fries and a bottle of water. The total price for this combo was $14.75. The sandwich sells for $9.75 and the fries go for $5, so the combo is essentially just getting the drink for free. There was a bit of misunderstanding between the cashier and I. The menu had a "hot special" listed for $12 and I asked what it was that day. The cashier said they didn't have a hot special that day but I could get a sandwich with fries or a soup and a drink. So I assumed this meant I could get the sandwich with fries/soup and a drink for $12, but that wasn't the case at all, lol. It was actually $14.75, which is only a few dollars more so I didn't even say anything, but I feel the cashier could have been clearer, or they should list the price for a sandwich, soup/fries and drink combo as $14.75 on the board. Anyway, the sandwich came in a soft Kaiser roll and had a decent amount of shaved roast beef in it. It had cheese, sauteed mushrooms and onions, spring mix and an herb mayo. I almost requested that they hold the mayo, but I'm glad I didn't because the mayo was tasty and gave the sandwich more of a signature, otherwise it would have been something I could have easily made myself at home. The fries were hot and crispy, but tasted like regular fries from frozen. Although this is what I expected from such a cafe. Service was courteous and pleasant, although I feel like I was misled about the price of the combo, but I don't think it was intentional. There are a few high seats/bar seating at the entrance to sit and eat. There are also some tables and chairs in the building atrium. They had lots of grab and go items in the fridge. Cafe Le Monde is a good option for lunch (they also sell breakfast items and coffee) if you're in the area during their limited opening hours.
