Not too sure what was going on with the server and it wasn't busy at all.Went back the following day and it was busy, but our service improved except to get our cheque.. waited a good 15 to 20 minutes for that.

This place is a rare find that combines an inviting atmosphere with culinary excellence. It boasts a selection of dishes that are both familiar and innovative, inviting diners to explore new tastes within the comfort of well-loved flavors. The pasta dishes are particularly noteworthy, made with freshly rolled pasta and sauces that simmer for hours, packing each bite with depth and character. The wine list complements the menu perfectly, featuring selections that highlight the best of each region. Dining here is more than a meal; it's an experience that celebrates the joy of food and the pleasure of good company.

Extremely disappointing. More than 50$ for a re-heated 14oz "prime rib au jus", served with at most warm vegetables and warm mashed potatoes that still had pieces not mashed. Service was good, fast, most probably because they don't take the time to heat the meal correctly. All that served on cold plate. At that price, you could at least use hot plates to keep things somewhat warm. Maybe it is warmer on more busy evenings...Best thing in that restaurant appear to be the paintings.I'll avoid that restaurant in the future.

I was just looking for a meal after work, having forgotten completely it was Valentine's day. I was early enough that they squeezed me in, and OMG the food was so good I was shocked. The waiter was extremely nice and attentive, and made sure I had everything I needed right away. I made sure I was quick because of all the reservations that night, but I still didn't feel rushed at all. I really highly recommend this place. There's all kinds of covered parking in the area too.Vegetarian options: Well I did get meat, the meal came with broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus and grilled tomatoes which were delicious enough to have been a meal on their own.

We needed a quick spot for lunch, and I'm glad that we stopped in. The food and atmosphere were great. The server was very helpful in his suggestions and getting our order processed quickly. All in all, it was a good experience.

Very expensive for quality of food received. Paid $50 for a filet mignon cooked medium. Served top sirloin instead, cooked medium well to well done. When questioned, I was asked to cut through the middle which was a little bit pinkish but the entire most outside part was so overcooked that it was like chewing cardboard. 70% overcooked. Was said the little bit of pink visible was medium but it wasn’t soft enough to be cooked medium. Wish I took a picture of the inside. Vegetables were basic. Baked potato is good. Charges for sauce for steak but makes it sound like you get to choose one as part of your entree. That’s a bit weird. Ordered peppercorn sauce. Didn’t taste very good so didn’t eat it. Caesar salad basic. Brie appetizer is good

The rib steak was cooked to medium-rare as ordered, but slightly under-seasoned albeit tasty, but had not been frozen. The potato mash was okay but nothing to write home about. The other veges were nicely prepared. The appetizers and dessert were also okay. I would still take The Keg over this -- for less money!

My husband were in Ottawa on Saturday October 21, 2023 celebrating our wedding anniversary. We had an amazing time, the food was hot and delicious. We had French onion soup and their Mediterranean Brest Chicken and my husband had seafood linguine and it so good. The food came quick and the service was friendly and great atmosphere. Definitely would go back again when in Ottawa.

This was the first time any of us had tried Madisons. For me, it will be my last. That's not to say that anything was terrible (and for that reason I gave two stars rather than one), but the value proposition was non-existent. This was not an inexpensive eatery and yet the décor, the food and the service were more reminiscent of a cafeteria than the "upscale' experience the restaurant promised on its web site. Areas of the restaurant were not well maintained, with some parts displaying worn walls and carpeting. The tables were one half step up from the simulated wood tables found in cafeterias. The service was barely acceptable. It was certainly inattentive, with little regard for refilling drinks or checking on guests' progress. The only really attentive part of the evening was when the server kept returning to take orders even though we were clearly not ready, with our menus still open. And it was not in an effort to hustle us through our stay, because the restaurant was only about one quarter full. Of course the most important aspect of any restaurant is it's cuisine and here Madisons continued to disappoint. The Caesar salad appetizer, while a decent portion, was of mediocre quality and the dressing was disappointing. The French Onion Soup was not quite terrible, but close. The broth was salty and yet still not not particularly tasty. The cheese was bland and the portion was very small for the price charged. The cheeseburger was almost tasteless. The ground beef was hardly seasoned and the basic beef taste completely overpowered any possible flavour that might have come from the sparse toppings. The last time I had a hamburger like this was the first time I barbecued my own hamburger without any knowledge of how to do it correctly. The only condiment provided was ketchup. One of us did have the Mediterranean chicken and it did look nice. I was also told it wasn't bad. But, at best, that's only a success rate of 25%. If this had been an $80 meal for four people at a casual fast food restaurant then perhaps some of these failings could be overlooked. But Madison charged twice what this fast food should have cost and for that they deserve at most two stars. They don't get one star only because everything was edible. Barely.
