While at the Mississauga Festival of Trees we saw San Jose Mexican Foods. We saw that they had empanadas so we ordered two. They were kept warm in resealable plastic sandwich bags in an instant pot like appliance. They came with a plastic bag of salsa. In my mind I was picturing the empanada to look more like a calzone. These were very soft and broke apart easily. The outer layer was quite thick. There was a good amount of cheese though. They were okay but not what I had expected.

San Jose Mexican Foods was one of the vendors at the Culinary Market at the Festival of Trees in Mississauga. I was pretty excited to see this there as it was advertised as carrying authentic Mexican food. They had empanadas at 2 for $8. I'm assuming this was because the empanadas needed to be portable but they were stored in pairs within zip top bags inside of what look liked a big slow cooker. This meant that there was a lot of moisture locked into the bags. I can't say I've ever had an empanada like this. I've tried Colombian and Cuban ones, both which had a hard pastry-like texture on the outside - like a pie shell almost. These ones were verrry soft. Almost like a cornbread or something but softer. The pluses were that the dough had a very nice corn flavour and the inside was pretty much solid cheese and we very much like cheese! The downsides were that...that was kind of it. A soggy exterior pastry and just cheese. The cheese was kind of in a rough paste and not of a melty type. This wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't good. I was super happy that I was able to go 1 and 1 with a friend because I definitely couldn't have made it through another one of those.

Wow, if I could give 10 stars I would! We had the opportunity to try their tortilla chips and salsas (Verde, pico de Gallo and habanero) at the Islington Village Community Market. My gosh, all so good! The best chips I've had in so long, I can't remember better and the salsas were all excellent. We are so excited to find such great quality Mexican food and can't wait to try their other products!! Please come back next week!!!!

Not expensive but not cheap either. The meat is always cooked perfectly. Best Tacos in the area hands down. Look for their day specials on FB or Insta. Its a small family business worth supporting!

I stopped by on a whim and left with my arms full of goodies. The keto platter was amazing as were the friendly staff. I was so surprised by how large the gluten free section is, very impressive

Truly authentic and absolutely delicious. Do yourself a favour and try San José which is like traveling to Mexico through your palate without leaving Ottawa. The homemade taste is unbeatable. The Enchiladas were delicious and the cream adds a very nice touch. Go for Carne Asada if you do beef, its chimichurri marinade brought me back to trips I have made down south in the past.Make sure you bring cash, as unfortunately they don't take cards at the eatery. They do take cards for purchases made at the grocery store on the back.

The burritos and chorizo were sold out by time we got there after noon. I definitely want to try a burrito and the carnitas the next time as it seems to be very popular. It's about a 20 min waiting time per order and they only accept cash.4 stars because the Carne de Res was good but the beef was lacking some flavour. There's a grocery store at the back with some Mexican food goodies such as tortilla breads, frozen meals, candies, jarritos, sauce, Columbia coffee etc.

Started going here when they still have their location on Somerset. Still totally worth the drive from the east end. We take the trip out almost every Saturday. I've tried all the vegetarian options on the menu and have never been disappointed. Still exploring all the options from the grocery store.

Sincerely a gem to find in a small town. Genuine and friendly people making the best Mexican food I’ve ever had! The chicken burrito had fresh ingredients and was seasoned perfectly with a generous portion for the price, highly recommended. Don’t forget the shop in the back with all kinds of amazing treasures! Worth the stop for so many reasons.

Flavourful, fresh and delicious. Best Tacos I have ever eaten. My new favourite spot. Be prepared, this is authentic Mexican food, not Tex-Mex, do not hard tacos.

First time going there with a Groupon. What a friendly lovely food truck this is. The food was amazing and huge portions. The staff were friendly and attentive. They even have a Mexican grocery store attached to it filled with Mexican food items, pre-made frozen meals and other souvenir non-food things.

This place has ruined burritos anywhere else for me. I can't have a burrito anymore without comparing it to theirs...and then wishing I drove a little further to get theirs instead lol. Everything from the pico de gallo, to the Mexican crema is always, consistently perfect. Plus everyone here is always super friendly and helpful, especially when it comes to picking out some of the [already prepared] meals for an amazing supper! (I recommend smoking the frozen burritos, if you have a charcoal bbq.
