Have been coming to Fraser cafe for over 12 years. It's a regular 3 times a year spot for my wife and I. The food is always delicious, literally ever dish is on point flavour wise, texturally and presented with care, not over the top which I appreciate. Service is always courteous, attentive and professional. Truly a gem in this city and so glad to see it full this past Friday when we went. Thanks to Chef owner Ross, Chef Kyle and the rest of the brigade for a wonderful dinner and celebration. Chelsea provided great friendly service. We will be back soon!! Chef Oliver

I have been a fan of this spot since I first visited it several years ago. It’s pretty far from where I live, but I do find excuses to go, and since the pandemic have been a regular for their take out meals and frozen items. We indulged in the NYE dinner and it was amazing- creative, tasty, beautifully constructed and lots of variety and surprises in the courses to boot. We had a small boo boo with our order and because we were so far away, we couldn’t go back to get it that night. They immediately refunded us for the missing item and insisted on giving us a gift card for our trouble. Above and beyond is what I call this- mistakes happen particularly on a super busy night with what I assume is already a very lean workforce given the times. Refund was made that night ( with busy service underway), and gift card with a lovely note came on the first. Bravo from end to end. We will continue to support this local gem regularly for take out and hopefully soon for in person when the world is less crazy. We will be placing an order as soon as they are back from a well deserved break- and will tip heavily!

Knowledgeable and friendly wait staff, great neighborhood bistro decor. The menu has been lightened, as is the case in most restaurants during this pandemic. But they also have changed the « concept ». If the waitress needs to explain the menu at each table, there is a problem… rather than being presented by appetizer-salad-main course etc., it is by vegetarian-fish-meat, and the price of the plate gives an idea of the size of the portion… font used is very small and tea light does not provide enough light to read. Tuna tataki was delicious, tempura vegetables were good and beet dish was nice. The arancini were mushy and bland but the accompanying eggplant chutney was flavourful. The clam and noodle plate was good but nothing to write home about. The mafaldini was a disappointment, mushy and oily. The dip and crisp dish was very nice. The spice cake with caramel and expresso mousse was delightful and the chocolate-covered donut filled with passion fruit coulis was delicious. Our waitress was so nice and helped create a comfortable atmosphere but I doubt that we will return…

Fraser’s by far was our favorite restaurant pre-pandemic. This was our first visit since. Everything seemed off, from plating and most importantly taste. Flavours seemed skewed. Perhaps ramp up time required. Wishing them well.

Had dinner tonight Oct 27/21 at 6:30 pm. First offered a table in an extremely tight spot. We asked for another location but were told that there were other bookings. Not satisfied, we insisted on a better location as there were other vacant tables nearby. Finally the hostess moved us to a better table. The table that was offered to us in the first place was never used for any other customer that night. Am wondering if we were first offered this inferior location because we are Asians and the hostess and her colleague thought that we would just be compliant and take it??? We sincerely hope that racism is not a factor and that it’s just simply an error in judgment on their part. Notwithstanding our server gave us excellent service. She was very enthusiastic and attentive, and the food was superb. We had the crab/shrimp dip (very creative), the quail with turnips (succulent, well seasoned), the cauliflower with duck slices (well plated, cauliflower cooked just right), and a scrumptious dessert. Unfortunately the ambience of a restaurant is just as important for us as the quality of the food. We found the air quality is poor, the cooking smell is not vented well, and the space in general is tight. We would still recommend the restaurant but only for patio dining.

We live in the west end of ottawa, so not close to this wonderful cafe, where we have enjoyed many fine dinners in the past ( I worked close to the location). During Covid, we ordered take out several times and continue do so, based on quality of food. Menus are varied and portions extremely generous. Instructions for reheating are perfect. Recent meal of braised short rib and vegetables did not disappoint.

We’re not from Ottawa and it’s hard during these Covid times to a) find something open on a Sunday night b) without a reservation and c) it’s a bit of a shot in the dark when you’re not familiar with the area. Our meal was lovely and cooked to perfection. We had the beef & noodles and the lamb ravioli and both were excellent. Really lovely ambiance, a small menu and excellent service that didn’t make us feel rushed at all, and all at reasonable prices. I understand why this restaurant is so highly rated. Thank you for a truly enjoyable evening! Ps: have the donut. You’re welcome.

These folks are well set up with an outside patio (shade and heaters depending on the weather). The lunch menu was limited but awesome. The fried chicken and mac&cheese were the rave of the table. The tempura onion rings were fabulous and the shrimp roll , exactly what a hot day required. The service was amazing. Well done you guys!!!

The hotness of food that got delivered to us was too much. More than what was advertised. The vegetables that were not cooked was the best thing. They did not give chilli flakes on the side, as we asked. Terrible.

While we have dined at Fraser Café (remember when we could do that?), last night we ordered our first take-out dinner from them. It was a first rate offering - soup, generous cut of meat that re-heated very well, salad and desert. Clear re-heating instructions that could have suggested oven temperatures. All very enjoyable!

Ordered family style takeout to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary with our family. The food was nothing short of spectacular, generous portions and expertly prepared with detailed reheating Instructions. I can’t recommend Fraser Cafe highly enough we will definitely be back and also look forward to Eating in the restaurant when the situation allows.

We had yet another fabulous family-style take out dinner from Fraser Cafe. This is our 7th or 8th take out dinner and it was just so delicious. The portions are generous. For a dinner for two option we usually have enough good for two meals for two. The value for money is very high. We’ll be ordering again.

We had an amazing meal at Fraser Cafe to celebrate my birthday. The braised short ribs were fabulous and my wife really loved the venison. The staff were fantastic, efficient and gave us excellent recommendations. And the Fly By Pinot Noir was a perfect match for the meal. Thanks so much for making the evening memorable. ???

We dined at Fraser yesterday and while the food was good the wine we ordered was very bad. It was a Cabernet Sauvignon California Lodi (half a liter) straight from the fridge. I asked the waiter why is it so cold and he mentioned that it was room temperature...Must have stayed open in the fridge for a long time.. The waiter didn't even ask us if the wine was ok. I should have sent it back but my friend didn't want to create a scene. For 45$ half a liter this was a major disappointment and a major headache next morning. At this price I would have expected a much better wine, not served ice cold.
