WARNING! ESTABLISHMENT VIOLATING Ontario's Health Protection and Promotion Act! I was at the restaurant today for brunch. The owner of the restaurant had his two dogs there. They were not service dogs and they were sitting on top of chairs and tables that are meant for customers. Multiple servers and at least one cook were observed occasionally touching the dogs and even touching the dog’s mouth and then going back to the kitchen and presumably handling food! This violates city and provincial codes. One server was even taking a break with the dogs and sitting right next to it. This was brought up to our server and she said “Yea, it’s the owners dogs. They just hang out.”. Now concerning the food, I ordered a 2 egg breakfast with a pancake. I asked if the server could please make sure the over hard egg was very well done. She said “sure, I’ll make sure they break the yolk for you.”. The food came out and I was given French toast instead of the pancake. When I mentioned it, she said it would take 15 minutes to make a pancake because “that’s how long it takes to cook a pancake.” which made no sense so I told her it was ok and that I would just eat the 2 egg breakfast. I cut into the egg and it was runny. I mentioned it to the server and she said she’d ask them to make the eggs again but I said that it was ok because the rest of my food would get cold and the toast would become hard. In the end, I had half of a slice of toast, a few home fries and a coffee. She gave me $5 off when the only items I was able to eat were some home fries and toast. In the end, my bill came out to $19. The server was pleasant but she messed up my order pretty bad and she didn’t compensate me in a reasonable way or seem to care much that I essentially left the place without having breakfast. It could be because the manager didn’t approve of a further discount but I’m not sure that she even mentioned what happened to him at all. Also, her telling me it would take 15 minutes to “cook the pancake” was simply not true. I worked as a server in 3 restaurants over the course of 8 years and it doesn’t take that long to cook a pancake when you already have the grill on for breakfast service. It just seemed like she didn’t care. Very bad experience overall and I still tipped her as I always do regardless of my experience at a restaurant. I have my food handlers certificate and dogs should not be in restaurants unless they’re a service dog. Having dogs in a restaurant poses various health risks, including the potential transmission of diseases such as Salmonella, Campylobacter, E. coli, and parasites like Giardia. These pathogens can be present in the dog's fur, saliva, or feces, and can contaminate food or surfaces in the kitchen, leading to foodborne illnesses in humans. If the owners dogs are there during the day in the dining room, while people are eating, one can only imagine what the dogs are doing when there are no customers there. It’s safe to assume that the dogs would likely be given free range to enter the kitchen which is unsafe, unethical, harmful, extremely unsanitary, and a major violation of the public’s trust.Go to a place that respects their customers and values the health of the public.

Been here a few times now and is one of the better diners in the area for the quality of their food. Always excellent and very tasty with a few options that are different than you see other places. Highly recommend.

We came here around 6:30pm on Monday, there’s not too many people, but the service is incredibly slow. Only two servers in the restaurant and two kitchen staff. One of the servers is nice and patient, but the other one is rude. She’s rude and somewhat unhappy? I don’t know. She even doesn’t look at me while I was talking to her.The food is ok, it’s normal but kind of expensive. We ordered burger and NFC. Overall, it’s unhappy experience because of the bad service.

Cool spot discovery on short walkabout Byward Market. Seated and served by Eddy himself. Tried the crispy chicken sandwich with fries and the famous burger with modifications (no sauce) and a salad to accommodate a food allergy. Go for the double patties and add local craft beer on tap;)

Unfortunately the food was very subpar for the price for breakfast. It was Easter Sunday so perhaps they were very busy & therefore the reason for disappointing food items. This day & age it’s not hard to get gluten free bread for Celiacs so they too can eat.

You can feel the smell of burnt oil. It means oil has been used many times to make fries. Salad was fresh. Coffee did not smell or taste great. To be honest I would prefer Mcdonald's coffee. Environment is good. Nice staff. I would suggest that they improve the quality of food.

The King Eddy burger is juicy and flavourful. Fried chicken bennies are well seasoned and the gravy is fantastic. Hash browns are well cooked and seasoned. The milkshakes are a throw back with their thickness and the boozy versions make a great dessert. Cold beers on tap. Excellent service, even when busy. Poutine is decent, with St. Albert curds, but the gravy could use some work. I prefer getting just the fresh cut fries as they come crispier and really don't need the gravy. They're great alone. Awesome place and great patio in the summer!

Omg the chicken! So good! Had a club sandwich and the chicken has the best seasoning. Great fries and poutine- I'll come back for anything with the chicken. The atmosphere was like an upscale dinner. Beautiful and relaxed feek. Only down side was our server. Not sure if it was just because of the time we went in and it was change over in servers but the server took quite a while to get our order, food was quick to come out? but my order was a bit wrong due to her not listening haha but anyways then at the end she seemed to be rushing us out asking my friend if she needed a taken out box while I was still eating.GREAT FOOD!
