Our daughter recently moved to Ottawa and we went to visit. Told her to find a good place to go for dinner. Whispers is just down the street from where she works so she suggested it having never been. It’s a small but cozy place. You have to provide proof of vaccination to dine in but that’s pretty standard everywhere. Our server Ty was great. Attentive and polite. We ordered the Arizona wrap /fries, chicken pot pie and fish tacos. As well as 3 adult beverages. All were excellent. Hot , flavourful , with good portion sizes. Except for the fish tacos that was just tacos. Restaurant and Bathroom were nice and clean. Was a really nice evening out. You are required to wear a mask when not at your table, but that’s pretty much anywhere you go. Our daughter said she and her boyfriend would definitely go again. Next time we visit we will too!

Great service. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good. Beer selection was ok. Nothing amazing, nice quiet place for a drink and some food.

We love this old "hole in the wall" neighbourhood pub. It's not even our neighbourhood! The food is good. large portions and consistent. The Owner is super friendly and appreciative and the staff of Lifers (that says something) always give great service. We'd much rather spend money local here than at some stupid sole-less American chain restaurant! Interesting Regulars too! Great large patio areas. Cool old Ottawa memorabilia stuff on the walls.

Wings were better than ever. A nice touch of something normal from before 'the blip'.

Alysha is the best server and is always in a delightful mood, fast, and provides smiles for free.

I rarely write updated reviews because usually my first opinion and rating for a restaurant holds true on subsequent visits. However, I think Whispers deserves an updated review as I'm upping the rating and my original review was almost a decade ago. So Whispers is one of the OG pubs in Westboro (the other was Puzzles, which has since closed down, but Whispers is still standing). It was here, long before Westboro became trendy and long before the other pubs like The Clocktower, Barley Mow and Churchill's moved in. Anyway, they have upped their prices and streamlined their menu somewhat, but I feel that their food has gotten better. My most recent visit was with a Yelp friend from out-of-town passing through Ottawa. I got the Whispers Chicken Wrap ($17) which sounds simple since it's just roasted chicken, bacon, herbed cream cheese, lettuce and tomatoes, but it was delicious! The chicken was lean, real chicken breast. The bacon was thick cut with a strong smokey flavour. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. The wrap was soft with just the right amount of chew. I chose the garden salad as my side, and the vegetables in there were fresh too (romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions and grated carrots). The balsamic vinaigrette I asked for on the side was flavourful and not too oily. Service was friendly and attentive. What I should mention about Whispers and it's more relevant during this era of Covid, is that Whispers has lots of patio space. It has a rooftop patio and 2 street-level patios, one of which is covered, so you can still dine outside even if it's raining. The covered patio is a few steps above true street level, so you are a bit elevated. The indoor dining area is also broken up into different sections. There's the main section with a bar, where there can be live entertainment, the there's a section to the side that's a bit quieter. There's also an upstairs. Whispers used to have Halloween parties where they gave out prizes (a gift card to their restaurant) to the best costumes. I loved these parties and while I never won, I was one of the 3 finalists once (I was dressed up as the Queen of Hearts). These parties stopped long before the Covid Pandemic. In fact, I think they stopped these parties around 2016 when Whispers ownership changed (the current owner is the former owner of the New Edinburgh Pub). Anyway, I'm hoping once this Covid-19 Pandemic is truly behind us, Whispers will consider bringing back their Halloween parties. I love that they were more low key than the Halloween parties in the Byward Market, but still fun. Anyway, Whispers is a great casual pub in Westboro. They also have a private parking lot behind the pub with free parking (entrance is off Tweedsmuir Ave), which is super rare in Westboro. There's street parking on the side streets too, which is also free.

Really nice restaurant in a cool area. We went on a Wednesday evening with no line-ups.. We ordered the chicken fajitas and the sweet and spicy Thai chicken. The fajitas were ok but the Thai chicken made my day! Out of this world good. I strongly recommend trying it. The server was on the ball regardless of the crowd.

Good food here. I had the steak and mushroom pot pie. It was quite tasty. The prices are quite good at this place. Most everything is under $20. I wish they put spaghetti back on their menu (it used to be on the menu before the pandemic). Service is good.
