Tonight was my second time dining here and so far both times were for my parents' birthday. This time I brought a cake and they graciously came out and sang happy birthday for my mom! I really appreciated this gesture as not many restaurants are willing to accommodate outside food which I completely understand. Needless to say, service is impeccable and warm at this restaurant. The food is a notch above any Japanese restaurant in the GTA. The tempura is simple but obviously well executed. We ordered a sashimi platter both times but tried other dishes too like the fried soft shell crab which was very delicate and easy to eat for people too lazy to crack a shell. It's a small restaurant so the food does take longer but I think the pace is more relaxed and suited to the atmosphere :) the price reflects the diversity of their ingredients and dishes as I don't think there are many places serving monkfish liver and deep fried crab alongside imported sashimi. Overall, highly recommend for a special occasion!

Absolute best sushi I’ve ever had and the steak teriyaki was second to none. Finally a Japanese owned and Japanese cooked real Japanese restaurant. If I can give this place 10 stars ⭐️ I would.

I had the upgraded omakase set for two, for the price, the fish selection was very poor same goes for the quality and taste. Uni and scallop were especially fishy, tuna and salmon belly didn't have much taste and were fishy, unagi was dry, rice was mushy. We had a good experience with the waitress.

Sashimi omakase was good. Soft shell crab was also good, being very light. There was also quite a lot of it.

Tanuki Udon & Tempura Soba both had simple stocks. These dishes were admittedly not meant to carry the show. Both had quite a lot of noodles. The tempura batter was light but a bit tasteless.

My wife took me here for dinner. We ordered the seven course meal for two. The quality of food was exceptional. From start to finish each course outdid the other. The chef takes great care to buy the best ingredients. Very impressed.

Pricey. Delicious sushi and other Japanese dishes which you won't be able to get from other place near by quality-wise. Pricey but the place will make you grin if you are a sushi fan like me. Omakase was satisfactory and would go back again. Making a reservation is required but I got lucky and was able to get in on a Sunday night.Update since 2018: Thank you again for the birthday meal! I'll definitely visit again to use the discount voucher:)Vegetarian options: YesDietary restrictions: YesKid-friendliness: YesWheelchair accessibility: Not the best but I'm sure the staff will help you

Amazing Omakase experience on a weekday ($125/2 ppl, Monday-Thursday special)We got to try so many new things and enjoyed every bite. Everything was very fresh and a lot of the fish was seasonal, we had Akagai which isn't commonly found in sushi restaurants in the city. Service was quick and friendly, there was only 4 tables so I imagine reservations are usually needed. We will definitely be back again to enjoy more Omakase with the Chef.

I was undewelmed with their omakasa. The uni and tuna tasted a little off and was the best they have to offer? Price point is substantial lower then the other higher end omakasa in the GTA. It has dated decor and won't mind if the food was very good because I eat in many hole in the wall ,but the food has to be amazing. This was ok sushi but not at that price point.

As a longtime patron of 20 years, I've witnessed a decline in the overall quality during my recent visit. While the fish quality remains consistent, there are several noticeable issues with the finer details. Notably, the seaweed used to wrap the sushi has become chewy and sticky rather than the expected crispy texture, which could be attributed to either aging seaweed or a delay in serving, causing moisture absorption from the rice.Furthermore, the uni had a bitter aftertaste, and the scallop lacked the expected sweetness. The sushi rice, which has always been exceptional, appears to have shrunk in portion size over the years. Given the growing number of sushi restaurants in the area, I'm inclined to explore other options, and it's unlikely I'll return to Aoyoyama in the near future.

Not a beautiful setting (2 storefronts in a strip mall) but fabulous, authentic Japanese cuisine served with great care by an enthusiastic staff. The quality of the sushi is far, far better than the vast majority of sushi joints in the GTA. Not cheap, by any means, but for food of this quality it's worth every penny.

Yummy food and good service. All the fish was really fresh and great quality, and the service was great. Mari is really kind. The Aoyama course was very filling, and the fried lobster is a must-try ❤️

Old school truly authentic Japanese restaurant in Scarborough. Small restaurant interior space but there is apparently another seating space next door that we didn't see. Call ahead for reservations to avoid waiting. Menu has all the traditional omakase sashimi and nigiri, rolls, appetizers, udon and ramen. Love the full menu options. This is family run. Service is excellent but it does slow down as there is only one person handling service etc. We tried the omakase sushi for two upgraded, salmon teriyaki, udon. The omakase set comes with some cooked appetizers and they were amazing, monkfish liver pate, seafood soup, lobster tempura. The fish quality here is amazing. They use only high grade fish from Japan and it shows. I had Japanese Uni and toro was so fresh. I'm interested to try their other menu selections. Didn't stay for dessert this time as it got overly busy. Pricing quite reasonable considering quality of food. Overall a fantastic authentic Japanese restaurant in Toronto.
