The fish is extremely fresh and the vibe is cozy and inviting. Akai is exactly what we look for when we need a calm environment after a long day with some amazing sushi. If you are into loud music and fancy decor this won’t be your vibe but it is a hidden gem that is not talked about enough in my opinion.Always a great time there!

The food was great and plentiful, especially for the price. My party and I enjoyed everything we ordered. The vegetarian options were really good too. The server was attentive and kind. Overall, I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for sushi in Toronto.

This place is delicious. Plz eat here. A liiiittle pricey but it's REALLY good. Only real complaint is that they use single-use chopsticks.

I found their salmon maki mediocre compared to other sushi places.

We come here quite regularly since we live nearby! I think it’s the best sushi you’ll find for the price point downtown. It’s a little more expensive than some up on Bloor but the quality is better! Our favourites are the golden bridge roll and the sushi pizza with salmon.

Cozy hole in the wall sushi spot with good sushi! Restaurant is easy to get to and accessible via ttc. They have a wide selection of rolls and sets which are served nicely. Appetizers were ok - tried the veggie tempura and japchae.

Rolls are very large (would have been nice to be told this at the start). Tasty but nothing extra fresh or special. Atmosphere is quite lacking. There was even a wasp inside bothering us during our visit. Service was alright. They were also out of stock of the majority of their beverage menu which was strange and seemed like poor management.

Me and my girlfriend went for dinner and we were both craving sushi. We found this place randomly and we were so glad we did! The staff was very attentive and helpful and got us seated right away. They answered our questions about the menu and helped us pick the best options for us (which ended up being the Love Boat) and when everything came out we had no complaints. The sushi tasted so fresh and the portions left us completely satisfied. Definitely a great spot to check out for sushi lovers!
