I am so so disappointed to be writing this- but I feel it’s a must …I have been coming here for years, I have recommended this place more times than I can rememberMy boyfriend (now fiance ) booked this for us the day he proposed to me because he knew its my favourite restaurant in the city! When we arrived I was so excited because I LOVED this place - first issue, the woman that greeted us was short and seemed like she was maybe having a bad day?I told our waitress that we had gotten engaged earlier in the day and I was super excited, and all that she offered was a half hearted congratulations…My favourite dish, the duck pasta that I was always raving about, was overcooked, first then ever and I was disappointed … but didn’t bother saying anything…The cocktails were weaker than I last remembered…I also ordered us 2 glasses of champagne because obviously we were celebrating our engagementAt the end of the meal, after all the food, the desserts etc - not even 1 drink was comped, ok fine, times are tough - but not even a CONGRATULATIONS written on the dessert plate?! That was disappointingSadly I won’t be recommending this restaurant again and I hope management takes the time to read this because you lost a patron that not only lives in the neighborhood but has recommended your restaurant BEFORE it even got the coveted Michelin star!

3 out of the 4 dishes we had were excellent (ceviche, pate, and pork chop). I wasn’t fond of the pappardelle with duck - the garlic was overcooked and the dish lost its flavor, although the pasta was cooked to perfection. The service was nearly impeccable; the table was cleaned after every meal, our waitress was attentive, and my wine was replaced when a fruit fly fell into the glass. We were here on a Saturday night for dinner, so dishes took quite a while to come out - but the two of us were out the door within two hours. It was hard to hear my partner with the music playing even though he was right next to me, but overall the ambiance was urban, sophisticated, and comfortable.

The location is fantastic with a great vibe, but the food and service have declined, especially after my last two visits. The truffle pasta and the wagyu beef lack flavor considering the price.

The lobster appetizer and duck pappardelle are must try dishes; the truffle pasta is also very creamy and rich. Got to taste the foie gras x rhubarb, delicious. Went there twice and not disappointed once.

Declined Quality!Semi spoiled fish, we ordered the Dover Sole Fish and all night we were sick, it was bad. We noticed it was unusually stinky but we were embarrassed to return it in front of our guests because we were speaking highly of this restaurant.Very disappointed. Sadly I heard from multiple friends that the quality of this restaurant is declining.

We were here for a birthday celebration. The restaurant is not big but with good vibe. As soon as we walked in to the restaurant, the host was very friendly. Food was exceptional. Foie Gras Parfait was our favorite! We were very satisfied from appetizers to dessert.Due to the size of the restaurant, tables are pretty close to each other, but we will definitely return.

I've previously dined at Aloette and was thoroughly impressed by both the culinary offerings and the attentive service. However, my experience at Alobar left much to be desired. While the food was satisfactory, the service fell short of expectations. Our waitress seemed inattentive, requiring multiple attempts to flag her down for orders. She did not explain the menu which does require some explanantion to navigate what is a dinner vs appetizer portion. This was all wonderfully explained when we dined at Aloette. When inquiring about cocktails on the menu, I asked if she could recommend something that is less sweet, yet citrusy. She told me there were no cocktails that weren't sweet. I ultimately discovered a suitable option myself. There was confusion among the wait staff as to whether we had ordered a bottle of wine or by the glass. We had ordered a bottle only to then endure a prolonged wait for glass refills. Despite being asked about any special occasions by the host and mentioning it was my birthday, there was no acknowledgment whatsoever. Such inquiries raise expectations so I'm puzzled why the question was asked if there is no follow-up. While the food was good, the consistently frustrating and neglectful service ensures I won't be returning.

From the moment you step through the doors, you’re enveloped in an atmosphere of sophistication and warmth. A special shout out to Chris (Manager), who always orchestrates our dining experience with such finesse. His passion for hospitality shines through in his attentive service and genuine care for guests’ satisfaction. And behind the bar, Emilio, whose enthusiasm for his craft is infectious. Whether it’s recommending the perfect cocktail to complement our meal or engaging in lively conversation, Emilio enhances the overall ambiance of our evening!

My boyfriend and I dined here last night. We went for 9:15 pm and it was busy but not overly crowded. We sat at the bar (which is our preference) and had a good view of the kitchen off to the side.My boyfriend is a chef himself so he was very inquisitive and the chefs didn’t hesitate to answer questions, they were very polite and friendly. We were mostly served by Emilio. He was very knowledgeable about the food and drinks. Very impressed by him and his attention to detail. We even realized we’re both Spanish at the end! He honestly made the experience so enjoyable for us.Not sure who was responsible, but we were sent some free dishes with our dinner. And we were given some free 1942 shots. The food was incredible. Specially the Dover sole. I was a bit worried at first because it looked a bit odd, just a white fish filet swimming in butter, but let me tell you, the flavour was incredible. We devoured it in about 0.2 seconds. Honestly scared us how fast we ate it. This dish is a must try.We had the ricotta mezzelune as well which was delicious. I do wish it was a little bit saucier though. The brussel sprout leaves added a nice touch. We could have done without the chilled lobster but it was still good. Wouldn’t order this item again. It’s hard to find a good broccolini dish in the city but whatever they add to theirs is amazing. It was one of the items that was on the house but next time we will be ordering this for sure. Now, the dessert we had the classic Mille-feuille and it was worth all the hype. Another item that was on the house. We also got to watch the chef make it which was a nice added touch. Definitely would order this again.Service 10/10Food 9/10Ambiance 9/10Great experience. We can’t wait to go back and try everything else on the menu!

Honestly, I don't expect any less from the great Alo team at this point, and like all their ventures, Alobar delivers on every level. Every cocktail, appetizer, main dish and dessert we ordered was top notch, particularly the filet mignon that was so tender, flavourful and perfectly cooked. It's not a cheap night out, but it is well worth the price.

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere! I would definitely go back there again. For Valentine's Day, Alobar Yorkville had a prix-fixe menu, and every dish was fantastic and well-balanced.The Madai Sashimi (with yuzu and miso) was perfection. The fish was seared on one side (not overcooked), and the yuzu provided the right amount of acid to balance out the dish. The A5 Wagyu Tartare was great and the accompaniments (dijon mustard, wasabi, and pink Himalayan salt) elevated the dish and provided the right amount of acidity. However, real Wagyu beef comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, and I'm not sure whether it was real Wagyu.Having said that, the wasabi didn’t make my nose run, which means it was perhaps actual wasabi and not horseradish. The Canestri was my favourite. It had shaved périgord truffle on top, and the truffle added the right amount of flavour without overpowering the dish. For mains, they served a USDA Striploin, which was cooked to medium rare. While the steak was seared and caramelized on all sides, tender, and served on a bed of pepper sauce, I didn't like the fact that they didn't ask how I would like my steak cooked — because I personally like my steaks cooked to a medium (not medium rare).Though both desserts were great, I really enjoyed the Mille-Feuille. The layers of puff pastry were crunchy (which provided some texture to the dish), and to my surprise, I was able to eat the dish with only a spoon and a fork.Of course, service was great, and they wiped our table down after every course (I guess this is somewhat expected from a 1-star MICHELIN restaurant).

Such a great meal!!! We came here with friends for a birthday celebration, and it did not disappoint. The service was super attentive, the atmosphere is cozy comfortable but fun, and the food was amazing! So many highlights...we had the sirloin steak special, which practically melts in your mouth...likely the best steak (and sauce) I've ever had. The tiger prawns were amazing, the sea bream, we loved the mushrooms, the broccolini and fries and pain were all super yummy, and the mille feuille may be top three desserts I've ever had (and the apple tart wasn't far behind)! Martinis were great, an awesome Malbec, a night we won't soon forget. If you're looking for a great night out, or a special evening, this would be a good place to start. Thanks for a great night!
