Fun place with no menu so the bartenders surprise you based on your preferences! What I would expect though is the bartenders tell you what the drink is and what the put in it, which they didn't. Was slightly disappointed because of this. But the vibe is fun. A lot of standing tables and very few seats and they don't take resos, so you end up standing for most of the time before you get seated.

Drinks were delish- they make one for you based off of your preferences! The seating wasn’t ideal, felt kinda squished in. My friend had to sit on the tiny piano chair instead of one with a back on it. The kitchen was closed that day so we couldn’t order food.

Civil Liberties’ secret to success is simple: “Kind over cool”. The space is rustic and decidedly low cost but its the people filling this bar are what make it tick. The talkative and charismatic owner Nick has selected a like-minded group of bartenders to work at Civil Liberties. And kindness attracts kindness. The patrons that frequent Civil Liberties are all here for a good time. Be prepared though - at any given moment Civil Liberties can transform into a high octane party bar, much like Tres Monos in Buenos Aires or Employees Only in Singapore.Civil’s easy to talk to bar staff are more than happy to tailor make a cocktail to best suit your mood and palate. That’s right cocktail nerds, there is no menu here whatsoever. Of course, there’s nothing stopping you from ordering a beer or their surprisingly good kegged Espresso Martini, but my recommendation is to roll the dice and see where the night leads.

I work down the road and stop in at least once a week. This is the best bar in the city in my opinion. The staff is not only friendly but very personable, remembering your names and drink preferences so you always feel welcome. This is the best place to get classic cocktails, tiki drinks and of course their custom cocktails. I normally order a whisky stirred drink, and they always surprise me with the ways the can twist and evolve that simple request. It’s also a great place to learn more about drinks. Every bartender is an encyclopedia of drinks and fun facts about the cocktails you love. Shoutout to Tristan, he’ll often test out new drink ideas on me and I’m always impressed with what the man comes up with. It’s clear he goes out of his way to expand his palate and knowledge of spirits and flavors, sharing it with his colleagues and customers.Dietary restrictions: After taking your drink inspirations, they always ask you for any allergy’s you might have.

Her knowledge is unparalleled and she shared some absolute gold on the industry that showed she is possibly the most overqualified talented bartender in Canada. Full stop.

wow, what an incredible place this is! love the bespoke nature, there's no menu so you give your preferences and they will whip something up for you. my favourite was when i asked for something smoky with a bit of spice and they killed it, spot on! it is very busy though so beware, you may be at the waiting area (standing tables) before getting a seat.
