I love the ambience! The staff was very friendly and respectful☺️.It took 15 mins or less to get our meals. And it was really tasty?. I enjoyed every bit of it. I'm also pleasantly surprised at how full I got half way through my meal.If you're looking for a place to get authentic Japanese food, that is worth every dollar and freaking good. This is the place for you❗️Don't just take my word for it, give it a try :)(Sidenote: I'm from Sask, this is my first time in Toronto.. so the experience I had here was pretty cool! Shoutout the 2 gentlemen and lady who assisted us when we dined here. You guys are awesome ! ?)

I ordered two pork tenderloin tonkastu which comes with rice and salad. I saw this when I opened it, are u guys tripping? I call the restaurant for my concerns, but it seems like they dont understand english no ones responsible. Learn the language before trying to earn some money. Pathetic.

Ordered their pork loin tonkatsu for takeout, which was a decent portion size. It came with a small miso soup, some sauce for the meat and dressing for the cabbage slaw. The rice was a bit mushy, but the tonkatsu somehow remained fairly crispy, despite the delivery.

I've been to the Mr. Tonkatsu up at Sheppard and Yonge, and it is comparable. Unfortunately, there is no longer the free refills of rice, miso soup or cabbage anymore unless you happen to be here during happy hour. I had the katsu toppokki which was good. The thin crispy katsu was much better when dipped in the spicy sweet toppokki sauce. The fat chewy toppokki contrasted well against the crunch of the katsu. An okay meal but the katsu meat felt thinner and less substantial, so I still prefer other katsu places.

Came by for a quick bite and experience was pretty good! Price point is really fair especially during lunch special and taste is pretty good. Would come back again for a quick bite!

I go Mr. Tonkatsu quite often. I feel they are more like.. Korean+Japanese than being authentic Japanese. Just keep that in mind.

The menu had quite a few items, so we didn’t opt for the obvious tonkatsu. The friend squid was good (reallly like the panko and accompanying tartar sauce), however it was quite oily. For appetizers I would recommend the soba noodle soup, it was very very good. The tteokboki was also decent, loved the sauce we even ordered a side of rice to eat more of the sauce. Service was pretty quick and I liked the overall decor and vibe of the place.

Ah yes, Mr. Tonkatsu the direct competitor to Katsuya... sorry I meant Gyugyuya wait sorry I was mistaken again it was Brown Donkatsu... you get the idea. The katsu market in Toronto is a wild west and there are several locations to pick from. So what makes Mr. Tonkatsu stand out? Nothing really and it doesn't need to be that way. The cutlet is fine and so was the curry. Other items on the menu are subpar and don't have as much care as the big ticket item. I had the pork loin katsu curry and can't think of one thing that it exceled at over its competitors. The katsu wasn't as big and juicy as Katsuya, the menu options weren't as expansive as Gyugyuya and the sauce wasn't as good as Brown Donkatsu. If you live nearby and want a quick bite to eat, Mr Tonkatsu does the job but I wouldn't recommend it for someone out of the city.

$19.80 for chicken katsu curry? With tax and tips it came to $25! The chicken katsu was nothing special - crispy enough but dry. The curry tasted the same as what I can make at home with store-bought curry cubes. Not worth it imo.

Nice pork tenderloin katsu, the thickness is ok, very tender and juicy, every bite is enjoyable, the demi-glace sauce is delicious, the miso soup is a bit too salty though, overall a very good place to go for some high quality katsu for under 20

I would not recommend this restaurant at all to anyone who wants authentic Japanese food. I ordered Japanese style fired chicken Karaage and pork tenderloin curry. The fried chicken is definitely not Japanese Karaage. Japanese Karaage should be boneless pieced chicken with lemon and salt or pepper on the top. The “japanese style” fried chicken they serve here I believe are just the Korean fried chicken wing without any sauce. I suspect they fry chicken wings once, and if you want Korean style, they dress it with sauce, otherwise, here is your “Japanese” style. The pork tenderloin curry is another nightmare. The pork was not marinated and tasteless. The meat is also very dry, I’m not sure whether it’s because of overcooking. The curry is watery. After food, let’s talk about the service. It’s good that it opens in the late night. You scan the barcode to view the menu and then order on your phone. The waiters then bring you the food. I’m ok with this so that no one pushes me to order ASAP. But the waiters didn’t refill the water, nor did they check whether i’m done with the food. They also turned off the light next to me, where there was a couple sitting under that.
