I’m a big time business man who comes to Toronto for serious business. I also have one of the greatest palates of all time.I come here every time I’m in Toronto. The food is fantastic; the service is attentive and warm; the atmosphere reminds small restaurants I’ve frequented during my trips to the Land of the Rising Sun.Highly recommend.

Great Japanese food, and the owners are from Nagoya so definitely try the tebasaki wings. Get a lot of them.

Ive only lived around this place for 1.5 yrs and have read about their ramen for a while. It did not disappoint!Ramen: so simple yet packed full of flavors (altho also a little bit small, and for this particular price point, granted this is more like a izakaya rather than a ramen joint)Pork jowls with ponzu: So simple yet beautifully done. It's a cute izakaya with delicious (but also pricy) food. Enjoyed the experience tremendously.

Noods Galore!! By day, Sampo is the famous Japanese fusion brunch place @ohirucafe, by night it's a cozy Izakaya with classic Izakaya dishes & cocktails. Now that I'm on the hunt for a good Yakisoba, & this is now one of my top 3 It came in a sizzling plate, topped with a nice fried egg, with tons of pork & vegetables! All this for $17 & I had to share it with someone, that's how massive & filling it is Highly recommend Sampo if you're looking for a nice laid-back vibe on College Street, plenty of cocktails to choose from & great customer service!

What a fun place. Tiny but buzzy. A bit loud at times but it’s great for drinks and snacks. Food is tasty and very different from a typical izakaya. Try the yakisoba. It is excellent. Service is sweet. Drinks and food are very reasonably priced. Will definitely return.
This place is cozy and hidden gem. The kaarage is outstanding! Likely the best in North America! They should sell buckets of this stuff! Wow! Juicy, flavorful and melt in your mouth delicious!
Japanese cocktail bar with good drinks and friendly staff, place is quite small so if you have a large party, it's better to go to an izakaya

It's pretty good but portions are small (it is izakaya style) and the service was pretty slow. We really enjoyed the chicken karaage, tako wasabi and the saba misoni (forgot to take a pic!).It's best for small groups as the place is cramped.

2 out of 6 items tasted ok (2/5) and the rest were all overly salty. You can probably buy prepackaged food and make it tastes better than some of their menu items. Barely had any services. Waitress ignored us multiple times and is super slow. She missed items on our orders and was minding her personal business when the restaurant was getting busy (which I also don’t understand why).

How did this place get 4.9 stars?? Most in consistent and unattaintive service. Slow service. Waited 35 min for the first appetizer which was dried fish jerky... Waitress ignored 4/5 waves.
