Seems to be issues with booking using open table. No availability, and openings that have availability are for 6 AM (accidentally booked and mistook a 6 AM for 6 PM) Actual review: just a really great experience, very much enjoyed the first time, have been wanting to go again for some time ?

For the quality of fish in Toronto, I think this is a great value. I have been to Japan and tried Omakase a few times - I would say this is at par to what I would expect from an authentic Japanese restaurant.

Amazing way to have a tasting menu from a fantastic restaurant. The ambiance is not there as it's a pop up but the food and service was amazing. They also have an venue inside vela on certain nights so look into that if you want a vibe

Ordered: Omakase at VelaSushi was a bit disappointing... The flavours were not too distinct and the fish didn't taste fresh...Was served wasabi during the first 2 courses despite asking for no wasabi...

Phenomenal standing omakase 30-min experience with very high quality fish, and a super friendly and photogenic (he posed several times for pictures as he prepared the food) omakase chef! The chef even gave us an additional complementary piece after he asked which one was our favorite. For $70pp with 10 or so "courses", not bad for omakase with seafood quality this great.

Food was amazing and the staff were very courteous. Sad that they were closing but heard that they're onto better things. Was a great option for a quick but filling 30 minute meal, standing omakase was overall superb. Fish was fresh and we got to watch the chefs at work. My favourite bites were the shrimp and Scallop

An amazing experience! The sushi was the best that we've had, and the interactions with the chef made it very memorable. He was so meticulous and energetic, we had a great time hearing the descriptions of all the sushi. The sake and beer selection was also very good, and accompanied the dishes really well. We look forward to checking out the next location!

I think everybody should try this spot at least once. Love the unique way of serving sushi. Perfect if you want high quality sushi without having to break the bank or take 3+ hours out of your day. Chef was kind and personable. My favorite pieces were the fatty tuna (obviously), sea bass, and eel. I will come back if I'm ever in Toronto.

We had a really great experience at Tachi! Our chef that day was Jihu, who was wonderful and very skilled. The staff and service at Tachi were also excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a fun thirty-minute delicious experience~

Amazing. Love love loved the sushi and the experience. We went during 3-5 and received a percentage off. The place is really small and intimate … I love the feel of a small place in Japan. One thing I would suggest is staying true to the time limit. We were out in 15 mins… our server did ask if the speed is okay, but I felt really uncomfortable to say “slow down,” but that’s just me. Still, I would go back.

Very good sushi. It's a stand-up sushi bar where pieces are given to you one by one. You can converse with the chef preparing your food which adds to the atmosphere. The sushi quality is very high for Toronto standards and the price is fairly high too. This is not a filling meal but a good snack or appetizer before a meal. The staff were very accommodating and the service was excellent. The uni and salmon roe were particularly good. Worth a try and you will leave hungry with just the set menu.

My friend and I grabbed a quick Saturday lunch here. The food is wonderful - fresh and delicious. It's expensive for a quick meal - though it's obviously reflective of the quality of the ingredients. A nice treat!

My wife noticed this place when she walked through Chef's Hall one night, and the idea of a 30 min stand-up omakase appealed to her, so we made a reservation the following night. We decided to get a 4:30pm reservation, for the 15% discount. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation, which gave us time to select our drinks. As we approached the dining area, we got the familiar 'irasshaimase", and the first thing I realized is the stand-up counter is exactly that - a counter space that accommodates eight people, and you eat standing-up (there are not stools or chairs). Two sushi chefs came in and introduced themselves and asked if we had any food restrictions, to which they accommodated as best they could. The chefs were super friendly. They mentioned Tachi is popular among business people that only have 30 min to each lunch, which makes sense. Now the sushi - simply put, is fantastic. I've had a lot of sushi because it is so common in Vancouver, I sort of got used to a certain quality. However, sitting here sampling each piece as it was being prepared, I really appreciated the simplicity of it all, including the quality of the sushi rice, simple garnishing and the quality of the seafood. I was really impressed. I enjoyed every single bite. If you enjoy high quality sushi, I would highly recommend this spot. It's quick, and relatively affordable (especially if you the 15% discount for early bird dinner seating).

30 minutes for a dozen pieces, assembled right in front of you. Very fresh and high quality. I was skeptical and pieces I won't normally order were actually pretty good. Make a reservation in advance. Place is in a little food court and you get your spot at the sushi bar for 30 minutes. Was fun, unique, quick and tasty.

Toronto needed this type of experience so I'm glad Tachi delivers! The food is good. The drinks are good. The ambience, once inside the eating area, is different which is nice. The exposed kitchen was rather with boxes and dishes all over the place. That part was an eye sore. Other than that it was fun and would go again!
