I haven't had a casserole rice in a while and was delighted to find this gem of a place. They make each dish to order, so there is a 15 min wait after you place an order but it is worth it! I had the four treasure casserole rice and the pork ribs/braised beef casserole rice. Both were delicious and I loved the crispy rice that you have to scrap from the edges of the bowl. Each casserole comes with four strands of veggies and a little bowl of soup also. It is a busy place as there is always someone coming in but they are very efficient and turn over tables quickly to accommodate. Tip: they only take cash! Protip: call ahead with your order so that it is ready for when you get there! Extra protip: you can actually request to have the claypot as part of take out. That way you can enjoy the crispy bits of rice in the comforts of your own home. You pay a deposit on it and return it the next time you are there!

Came here for dinner with family. It was suggested by my foodie niece. I agree with most of her Asian recommendations, with the exception of deserts. She knows nothing about deserts! There were 5 of us, and we all order a different claypots. Without getting too long winded, as I tend to do, is that overall, the food is good. The value is good. Below is what was ordered: - Corn & pork rice rolls (chung-fun) 5/5 - Beef rice rolls (chung-fun) 5/5 - Chicken & Scallops claypot 4/5 - Chicken & Mushroom claypot 3/5 - Preserved Meats claypot 4/5 They have 3 locations, this is the original and is located in New Kennedy Square mall. The place is small, maybe 10 tables, and is staffed with older Chinese ladies with limited English. I'm "Jook-sing" (Canadian-Chinese, can barely speak Cantonse). Luckily, my niece could speak and was able to order for us. The funny thing is the menu has English & Chinese descriptions. The interior is not much to look at. It's not trendy and has a working class caffiteria food counter vibe. So would I come back? Yes. If you feel nostalgic for traditional Hong Kongish street fare, this should check all the boxes.... my 2 cents. PS. It's cash only, no debit or credit cards.

I went to pick up a DoorDash order & I wasn’t even greeted, & the servers were very standoffish & just mumbled under their breathe “not ready.” They didn’t even ask for who, very rude people, maybe it’s because I’m black.

This is a great casual spot and hidden gem in Markham. All of their clay pot rices with preserved meats are delicious. Each pot comes with a side of vegetables and soup, and rice portions are very generous. I’d highly recommend coming here if you’re around the area!

Good price and good quality! You spend about 30 bucks and you still can bring some food home. Highly recommend!

The restaurant only accepts cash and didn't inform us before we ate. They mentioned it when we were about to pay, making us drive to the bank to withdraw money, and they still expect a tip. They're intentionally avoiding taxes! Also, the cashier had a terrible attitude! I suggest everyone avoid this place!

I have eaten here several times. The food is stable and the taste is very good. I have never tried authentic claypot rice in Guangdong, but I think this one is quite delicious. The bacon and bacon ribs are both very good, the sausage is a bit worse but still good. The ribs taste pretty good too.The soup is relatively sweet and feels very comfortable to drink.

I have never encountered a restaurant with such a poor service attitude. The hygiene is also very poor. The tables are greasy and soup cups are overflowing everywhere. Children have to eat claypot rice before entering this store. The taste is average, the sausage has a strong alcohol smell, and the dark sausage smells of mutton. The waiter's attitude was extremely bad, and he acted like throwing things on the table. When I checked out, I was told that I couldn't pay by credit card. I didn't bring any cash, so I was asked to get cash. The attitude was like I was committing a crime for not bringing cash. It was disgusting. I left my child in the store and searched for a long time in the cold wind. After asking for directions, I found the bank she mentioned and got the money. Never come to this disgusting store again.

No favour for the soup. Not enough rice crust. Those meat are cut extremely thin especially the Chinese BBQ pork. Not worthy for this price.

Clay Pot Rice is the thing here, the price is also very affordable. This place is fairly busy and it’s that big.All clay pot rice will come with a small soup of the day and a small dish of Chinese broccoli. The highlight is the clay pot rice, they have every imaginable pairing/topping available. The Chinese preserved sausage with sticky was so-so, the portion/amount of toppings I got was not enough, it didn’t even cover the rice, if you look at the my picture, there is clearly allot of visible white rice (meaning there was room to add toppings). Also the flavour of the Chinese preserved meat didn’t transfer to the sticky rice… which was very unexpected…The other clay pot rice we order (salty fish spare rib) was much much better, very very yummyThe menu is very simple… $12/$13 for each clay pot rice, only 1 size

The casserole is good and old school traditional. But honestly the service is so bad and the attitude they give is so terrible that it lost 3 star I can take the dirty place that hasn't been cleaned in over a decade. But to be outright rude to people makes me want to avoid this place at all cost. It is not worth it. Especially since rice casserole is not exactly a dish that is rare to find in Markham. The amount of dodo you take is not worth it especially since it's not cheap either. I would give it 1 star if the food wasn't good. But overall you have to decide what your priorities are when going out for food. If you care about food above all else than come here if you care about both food and service. That's going to be a stretch

For the finale of our GTA trip this holiday season, we decide to wrap up with something HOT - temperature wise. This place has been in my list for a while but because it takes time to prepare, it can get busy so we still haven’t had a chance to visit. We finally came on the first day of 2024 and enjoyed two clay pots of rice, each set complete with vegetables and soup.It is as delicious as it looks, yes it can be oily but you can’t get the rice to be crispy without the oil. And for the first day in the year, I think we can splurge on the oil intake lolDo come early if you want to try this delicacy when you are in town, but don’t come when you are super hungry because there is a good 15-20 minutes wait for the rice to be ready. We will be back on another cold day! ?
