The food is absolutely disgusting, I ordered fish and chips and the chips were burnt, forgot to take orders so we were waiting a long time, they ran out of chocolate milk and tea, so there wasn’t much to choose from to drink, service was horrible! I will never ever go back there again!

I was out for a drive, looking for somewhere to have lunch, when I came across Halibut King Fish & Chips in Whitby, so I decided to stop in. They have a lot on their menu, including burgers, souvlaki, breakfast, and more but a sign out in the parking lot caught my attention: Haddock & Chips $10.99. That's what I had! I got a large piece of fish, nicely battered, a whole bunch of fries, and house-made tartar sauce. It looked really good, although I would have preferred my fries to be cooked just a wee bit longer. Some coleslaw on the side would also have been nice but it was already a good deal at this price. The fish was perfectly cooked, and flaky. With good food and good service, I recommend this place!

Decided to give this place a try as we were looking to try another establishment but they were closed. Upon entering, its classic ambiance of a fish & chip mom & pop shop like. The place is quite cold where you need to keep your jacket on while dining in. Here was what we ordered: Light Breakfast-$9.95 (comes with 2x eggs, 2x sausage, home fries, toast) - eggs were standard, and the sausage links were comparable to others but it may be frozen.. The thing that stood out the most was their home fries which is comparable to roasted potatoes you get in greek restaurants. Got the Haddock & Chips Special-$11 - The haddock didn't taste fresh and the batter was all over the place as the pieces didn't seem together. The chips were okay, although mainly getting the tips and crisp part of it and not actual whole cut fries with potato taste. I think their highlight for this was their homemade tartar sauce. Homemade Cheeseburger-$8.75 (you have to ask for toppings & sauce) otherwise you only getting burger with cheese on it. - IMO this was their best item as the burger was well seasoned and the meat was decently tender. Pricing on certain items seem fair overall, although not the best we had but average. The front attendant was friendly and easy-going.

Won't be going back! Stopped here after being told it's the best fish and chips around! Walked in, there was a very sour fish smell in the air. (I know fish shops smell like fish) This one smelled like a stagnant pond. Order Haddock and fries. There was a tiny piece of fish in the center of the gigantic blob of batter. Was going to stay and eat but roughly 10 students came in. Very loud. Sat beside us and ate thier homemade food they brought in with them. Only 3 of them ordered. The only things on the table were salt, pepper, and 2 kinds of vinegar. Where's the ketchup? (There was ketchup all up the wall behind my mother) The fries were crunchy, and my senior mother could not eat hers due to the hardness. Waiter never came to see if we needed anything, more drinks, etc. First time going there and definitely the last.

Put haddock + chips up 2.00. Who does that. Know how to lose business. Will not order fish again. It's too bad, fish isn't too bad.

No complaints on the fish and chips but I think the tartar sauce is worth more than gold, I always say alot of tartar and get 2 packs for 2 halibut, I used to give a few bucks tip and go out of my way to ask for more than 2 packs and I would get 3. Now, no tartar no tippy.

The food was fresh and reasonably priced. Nice restaurant for fish and chips.
