An icon in the Windsor bar scene. A meeting place for clubs and friends for decades. A piece of Windsor Sandwich history that almost everyone has frequented at some point.
For decades I’ve been enjoying this historic pub. These days, under the management of Jordo T, the music scene here has blossomed into an eclectic mix of different artists. Some, like tonight’s headliner South River Slim, have a very loyal following, so it’s best to reserve your table early. Tuesdays there is an open stage where various local talents converge and share the stage. The food is always reliably good, and the soup of the day is delicious and healthy. As in the show “Cheers”, this is the kind of place where you can walk in a stranger, but you leave with friends.

The Dominion House Tavern, built before 1850, is the oldest remaining continuously run tavern in the Windsor-Detroit Border region and one of the oldest in Ontario. Gord and I had read Genevieve Graham's novel "Bluebird" and her characters went there during prohibition. We both like history so we wanted to check it out. What a fun spot! The band was good and everyone was friendly.

I always give five but this place is nice. Cold beer good food food, if your not fancy. Buddy had the chilly cheese DAWG wish I hadn't eaten that would have brought back childhood memories.Friendly crowd, I read reviews saying its rough. Maybe it is but people are friendly. Had some sorta freestyle event, fun.

What a great time! Some of the friendliest staff in the city, a varied selection of beer, and probably the most consistent pub food in the city.
