The most fantastic Japanese restaurant in the entire GTA. Be sure to try their uni and shima aji sashimi. Service is warm, attentive. Very unique and quality flavour profiles of their dishes, and everything is super fresh. Highly recommend to all, especially those who appreciate Japanese cuisine and seafood.

Horrible experience here - people said sushi was fresh. It was not! They served cooked rice instead of proper sushi rice. I was scared to eat the rest of my food because it has never smelt funny like this. Immitation crab as sashimi??? Are you serious?? I asked about oysters and where they came from and the server had no idea and only knew that it was raw. Would not recommend.

I have been coming to Koganei since I was in my moms stomach and we’ve been coming here ever since for the past 21 years, even after moving away from Woodbridge. That’s the type of restaurant Koganei is, the warmth of the staff, Daniel and Sara, makes the experience all the better. The food is always top notch and well worth the price, my favourite being the rock shrimp and koganei rice! This restaurant deserves all your business and I will continue going here for my Japanese food until I cannot anymore!!

I went there on Monday with my girlfriend, the food wasn’t fresh. The scallop sashimi we order was defrosted fast so it looked a little cooked. The sea urchin is supposed to be orange but was more peach toned colour.Very disappointed for the Woodbridge roll, with: salmon, red snapper, avocados and mango; we paid $22 and there was only avocado and mango inside, the principal ingredients!Only good thing we ate was the spicy salmon cone.

Horrible food and service1. Their salmon torched sushi has the skin on it.2. The salmon sashimi pieces are too big; you need to cut them before eating.3. They said they have rice paper rolls, but they are made with cucumber. They claimed it is soya paper and didn't apologize for the wrong information; instead, they gave attitude.4. We ordered green tea ice cream, but they brought green tea cheesecake instead.5. You should ask for ginger on the side.6. You should remind them for a tea refill.

Good food! The Frank roll was the perfect amount of spice and whatever the paper was they wrap it in is delicious! Also got the sweet heart roll was very good and the toric roll, salmon was a little over cooked and sauce didn’t have much flavour.Dietary restrictions: They note dietary restrictions on the side of each item

The owners of Koganei take care of their customers with fresh ingredients. They do not skimp or take short cuts. My Japanese parents also loved them from 20 years ago, and for a very good reason. If you know good Japanese food, try them! You will not be disappointed.

Koganei has been in Woodbridge a very long time. It serves delicious sushi and is far more authentic than most sushi restaurants in the area.
Sushi was bad, it didn’t taste fresh, and the pieces were HUGE making it really hard to eat. They also started vacuuming an hour before closing which was weird and ruined the vibe. Also waaaayyyy overpriced!
