Updated to add that the owner really went out of her way to make it right. We will give it another try next time we're in town.I'll start by saying that our food was mostly decent save for the burger which was extremely overdone. I don't normally get overly concerned with service but there were a few things that really irked me.First I was sent with my ($85) pickup order with no cutlery. I went back in to ask for it and was handed two forks, one of which the packaging had already been opened and was told that's all they had. Which is unfortunate because 3 of us ordered soup.I also noticed after leaving that I was charged $0.75 for dressing for my salad. I can understand a charge for extra dressing, but I did not ask for extra anything. I was also charged for sauce for chicken strips. I was asked what kind of sauce I wanted for the chicken - no mention of an extra charge. Finally I was charged $3.00 for ordering takeout. Again this wouldn't really be as big of a deal if it was disclosed prior to me arriving to pick up my order.Would not eat here again and would not recommend. Just not worth the price and the hassle.

Food here was okay. Garden salad was kinda lame. Lettuce was limp, and nowhere in the ingredients of the salad do they say sunflower seeds.. but there were sunflower seeds on my salad. Had I have been allergic this would have been a major problem. The clam chowder was sub par. Potatoes were undercooked and not much clam like they describe to be. Bartender, blond bigger female- absolutely rude. Barely attended to us and we sat at the bar. My friend asked if I could get a drink change, I originally got the paloma or something and it was disgusting. Not digestible. Bar tender literally filled more than half the drink with lime juice. So it tastes exactly like lime juice. She was rude in getting me another drink. And although I took 2 sips of the first drink she still charged me for it. Would not recommend coming here.

Walking into this local bar the atmosphere felt friendly and inviting in the beginning the bartender was very kind and sociable… upon arrival, I ordered a hot toddy and a bowl of chowder with a side of garlic bread. This place is supposedly known for how amazing their chowder is, so I had to try it ..sadly when it was served to me, it was served to me cold and then asked the bartender If they could please heat it up. Once she brought it out again it was so piping hot. I literally couldn’t eat it for almost 10 minutes, at that point, the potatoes were like mashed potatoes and it was not very tasty. The bread was literally full of grease because they just deep fry it. They do not grill your garlic bread according to the bartender…. Unfortunately upon my leaving she became very rude and a bit hostile. I don’t think I will return , sadly I will have to continue to say that New England clam chowder is better than the West Coast so far …..

Over 100 years old. The staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable on the history of Asortia (be sure to look for the hidden door). The chef is on point with her seafood chowder, bacon blue burger, and crispy chicken salad. Mouth still watering. We actually preferred the food over some other local popular restaurants. We will definitely visit again when traveling through town and would recommend to others. (Sorry no photos as I was too excited to dive in ?)

We went to Portway hoping for a good tavern hamburger. We were treated to a burger that cannot be beat. The fries were also perfect. When we make return visits to cities we like to try different restaurants. This burger was so good, we will eat here any time we are in Astoria. A bonus was a good selection of draft microbrews.

I ordered one take-out order of fish and chips. It was ready in 20 minutes for pickup and the fish tasted great. However, I paid $26.50 for three pieces of fish. Unfortunately, it felt pretty overpriced, especially for bar food. Will save $10 and choose another location next time.
