This is attempting to be hip, modern American cuisine but misses the mark. This is the 2nd restaurant, the first being Drake. The menu is very basic and most of it presented well but lacks seasoning and is bland. In a town sort of known for its food this misses the mark. The space is very nice and cocktails are fair. But too expensive and service is slow.

My husband and I wanted it to be better. So much better. Quite disappointing food... Especially our beef carrparcio, it's just not the way it is supposed to be made. But our server was very kind and personable. We won't go back though 😔

We were passing through Bend for a few days last week and decided to try this place out. Boy oh boy did it exceed our expectation! We were greeted warmly by our host/waiter (and also our bartender it turns out) He recommended this cocktail made with light rum and fresh melon which he had bought fresh earlier at the local farmers' market. Oooohhh it tasted so good!!! Sooooooo good! We had the lamb skewers as an appetizer. My husband ordered the prime rib while I went with the scallops. I don't even need to tell you how wonderful the dishes, the drinks, the service and ambience are at this point. We were so glad we chose to come here. I envy the people of Bend! If you live here but haven't been here, it's a crime. If you're passing through like us and are looking for an amazing dining experience, you won't be disappointed. On top of everything else, one huge bonus, to our surprise, is their prices. We couldn't believe how... well I shouldn't say "cheap" but we definitely were expecting to pay more for this type of gourmet meals and craft cocktails. I kind of didn't want to write this review for fear that they'll get too popular lol, almost wanted to just keep this place to myself but hey! I don't live here so! I really hope they continue to do well (I already know they will). Every community needs more restaurants like this. It's so good for the soul. Thank you Citizen for a great evening. You guys rock!

We came from out of town, and made reservations for a bachelorette party on Saturday night at 7 and had the best service! Rusty was our waiter/bartender and there was another waitress (didn’t catch her name but she was awesome!)- they were both so attentive and friendly. We had such a great time and the food was exactly what we needed!!! They made us feel right at home, we will definitely be back.

Had a wonderful evening. The staff was extremely professional. The meal was delicious and more then I expected. Many places to drink and eat in Bend. I recommend trying the citizen bar. They are not open late but let us dine past their closing window. Service without rush until we and the other tables were done. Thank you.

Excellent restaurant! My boyfriend & I were looking for a nice, new restaurant to try while we were passing through Bend. We are pretty particular when it comes to food, foodies, you might say. Citizen was somewhat new, and looked fantastic. We had a reservation for 7pm for dinner, we decided to stop by early (45 minutes) to see if they could get us in. They were more than willing to accommodate us and get us in at the earlier time. The host/waiter was excellent. He was very friendly and attentive. We started the meal with cocktails. The waiter provided helpful recommendations and I enjoyed a gin cocktail (I can't recall the name, but it was the third gin cocktail on the list) and my boyfriend enjoyed the smoking rosemary old fashioned. Both drinks were fantastic and well made. We also got complimentary warm bread and butter which was delicious. Then the food!! We started off with the Raclette and ham which was delicious. The stone ground mustard was so tasty. I ordered the scallops and my boyfriend got the salmon. Both were cooked perfectly and good portion sizes. Both presented beautifully. The salmon was served on a bed of mashed potatoes with green peas and purée. The only thing I would change about the scallops is the cauliflower purée. I think the dish would have been better with risotto or polenta, perhaps. We finished the meal with a s'mores chocolate tart which was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant, great staff, great food, great drinks all for a reasonable price! We look forward to going back.

Rusty is the Heart & Soul of this restaurant and the only reason it is so wonderful. He is the man behind the wonderful cocktails you're ordering but he also takes care of tables as well. It's a smaller restaurant so be sure to make a reservation. Craft cocktails are legit, thank Rusty! The food is priced responsibly and portions are great. Would highly recommend but don't be in a rush. After all, you're in Bend so you shouldn't be in a rush. Enjoy it, we'll definitely be back!
