Castaways is our favorite place to eat in Cannon Beach, and believe me, we've tried nearly all of them over the years. We come out here at least twice a year and never miss an opportunity to enjoy their latest seasonal food offerings and their insane cocktails. My hubby said that tonight's pork cheek jambalaya was some of the best he's had since he left New Orleans 25 years ago. (And as odd as it sounds, the smattering of blueberries was a surprisingly successful addition that gave it just a pop of PNW flair.)And my Parmesan crusted petrale sole was also fantastic... crisp, flavorful coating over moist fish, with creamy mashers and crisp/tender fresh veggies. I wouldn't say it exactly fit in with the "Caribbean/Tiki Bar" theme, but it was delicious and well prepared. And the cocktails more than made up for whatever thematic elements may have been missing in the fish. The Zombie and the Rum Punch were strong, complex and not overly sweet. Add in the excellent service, and Castaways is just the full package.

After a two-night, mid-week stay in cannon beach, this spot was hands down my favorite! Rando trip with a girlfriend, who is my foodie person when I’m not indulging with the hubs. Did a quick and dirty drink, food, and coffee tour (in that order). Many great spots, but Castaways stood out for all the things. Take home=go here!

Cannon beach was a let-down with restaurants, until we found Castaways. It felt like the first place we ate that was actually passionate about their food, not just turning an easy buck on tourists. The meal would have been amazing anywhere, but stood out as a shining jewel is a sea of “blah” food offerings. Our meals were done perfectly, and so good! The chef/owner came over to each table to inquire about the meal, and was delightful, caring and genuine. Staff were excellent, seating was cozy without feeling cramped. (Would have been easy to stuff in a couple more tables to make more $$, instead of the obvious attention to providing a comfortable, inviting space) I absolutely recommend it for anyone in Cannon Beach that wants a delicious meal, thoughtfully sourced and prepared.

The first time we tried this place it was eh ok. Service was slow the restaurant is a small house like. And the food was expensive and don't get your money's worth.Tried again a few years later. Tried calling to make reservations. No call back. We went in and was rudely talked to.I'll also note they close from 3-5 would've been a great time to call back and say they were booked

The ambiance was nice. Small intimate place. The lamb appetizer was great. I will have to try and replicate it at home. The seafood entoufee was a great spin-off o the classic crayfish dish. The large scallops and prawns were excellent, though I did choose it with a 2 heat level, but that heat level perfectly accented the seafood flavors without dominating the dish. The wife very much enjoyed her Cajun prawns, but was disappointed that the cilantro in the dush was not disclosed. Pre-covid, I would have given the service a 3. However, the world has changed. As the boomers retire, there the folks in the job pool has decreased. This is exacerbated in the hospitality industry, especially in he oft season. Many folks improved thier skills during covid, and the student Job pool does not exist in the off season. The night we were there there was snow in the forecast so everyplace we went was short staff. Castaways was working with a staff of 3 instead of 5, and the band canceled where we went for like music. Learn to go with the flow. Staffing sucks, so quite feeling so entitled. The food is worth the wait.

Josh, the chef, is an original. His fusion style and pairing of foods are delicious. Wonderful ambience, great friendly vibe. The shrimp and crab was amazing!

Food is absolutely out of this world and so are the staff and the chef. Do yourself a solid and make dinner here a priority the next time you're in Cannon Beach.

Everything about our evening at Castaways was perfect. We chose here for my birthday dinner and should've called for reservations, but they were able to fit us in which was great, because it was my birthday. I had the "attitude adjustment" and my husband had the "zombie" cocktail. Both were delicious! I had the Dungeness Gnocchi which was A-MAZ-ING! Every single bite was out of this world. From the generous crab meat and lobster in the dish to the mushrooms and the baby sweet cherry tomatoes, this was perfection. Husband had the Steak with a bleu cheese sauce. He said to make sure that I mention the delicious mashed potatoes and that it was cooked absolutely perfectly! Coincidentally, the couple next to us were celebrating his birthday, also. They were so sweet and when we chatted briefly and told them this was my birthday as well, they picked up our cocktails on their way out! No one does kind things like that anymore. It was really nice. Our waiter was sweet and funny, as were the other wait staff. All were relaxed and congenial and seemed happy to be there. The chef came out to see how we were and we could not tell him enough how amazing his creations are. Self-taught guy with amazing flair for food. We were here about 10 (?) years ago and remembered that we enjoyed it, but THIS visit was next level. The restaurant itself is a lovely, intimate setting with nice artwork on the walls and for sale. It was truly one of the best meals I've had in a while. 5+ stars!!!

One of the reasons we go to Cannon Beach when we go to the coast is because of this restaurant. Amazing food and service!

We had the pleasure of eating dinner at Castaways on Friday evening, and we highly recommend as the best new dinner spot in Cannon Beach. I'll first start by saying that we've been coming to Cannon Beach 1-2 times a year for 30+ years. We always make a point of trying any new restaurants that have popped up, but none have been memorable until now. The select menu is unique and full of interesting combinations and flavors that you don't find often, certainly not in a little coastal town. Everything on the menu, including the specialty drinks, complimented each other. We had the jerk chicken lettuce cups as an appetizer which were a fantastic combination of flavors, cool and savory. I had the scallop and prawn etouffee...full of flavor and spices, and my husband had the rich and creamy lobster, crab, langoustine gnocchi. For dessert we had the deep fried rum raisin bread pudding cubes with crème fraiche. They were heavenly! The staff was great, and the chef came out and met with all the tables toward the end of the evening too. We can't wait to come back ext time we're in town!

My wife called and made a reservation for New Years eve. She specifically asked if they would be open, as it was on a Saturday. She was told they would be. We drove to Cannon Beach and planned our trip around this dinner. They were closed. Why would they tell us they would be open. Not cool.
