One of our all-time fave restaurants and a travesty it's closing ?

Thankfully, we had a reservation. Gustav's was very busy, there was a line to get in. We were eating there one more time before it closes July 11. It seems many others had the same idea. Our food was delicious and our server was great even though he was very busy. What to know before you go: Make a reservation. The menu online is not current. Because it's closing, Gustav's menu is limited. But we found options that we wanted and all were delicious. Apple strudel is the dessert offered. Order fondue! If the menu had not been limited, our rating would have been a 5. We will miss Gustav's!

No wonder this place is going out of business! I called and was told no reservations just come in. I get there half an hour later and get told we're not seating any new guests by a very rude person at the front. I was planning to support this company with a few visits by several groups till the end but not anymore. Not putting up with miserable customer service like that. Good riddance!!!

After making reservations for the main dinning room, we were seated at a small bar table next to the service door. Had very slow response from our waitress taking our drink and appetizer order. Then waited until the appetizer had been delivered and eaten for the drinks to arrive. And when the main meal arrived it was barely warm.

Waited 30 minutes for the beer I had to order twice because she forgot, and still had to order and wait for waters after that! Ordered fondue, waited another 30 minutes for her to return to take our food order - the fondue never arrived. Only two out of four had their beers by this time. The other beverages finally arrived, still no fondue, and she left before the first two could order refills. Then three of our four dinners arrived, followed by the fondue. Our server “forgot” to order our fourth dinner, instead she lied that it was coming right out. After the other three were completely done eating, the fourth dinner arrived. Beverages were never refilled. Nobody asked how our meal was. Nobody apologized for the terrible service. Waited another 10 minutes for a to-go box (4th person had lost their appetite by then) and still had to ask for and wait another 15 minutes for the check. All the while a manager walked by several times, saw we had no beverages, saw menus still on the table, saw that only three of us had gotten our dinners, probably didn't notice all of our glasses were empty. They were busy but this was inexcusable. Yes, we still left a very generous tip, but this is by-far our worst dining experience ever.

We had an excellent experience at our Mother's Day Celebration. We were well accommodated with a comfortable table for our wheelchair. The location was perfect for being able to hear each other well and, of course, the food was Top Notch!

Ehhhh. Portion size could be bigger on the entree. I Tried the Veal schnitzel plate with mash potatoes which was okay. Pretzels & fondue cheese was good, the pretzel was thin and over baked. Value wasnt there.

Restaurant was understaffed. Front desk greeter seemed unfriendly and unwelcoming. Service person that brought water was friendliest of all. Slow from ordering until served, both for drinks and meal. Meal was...underwhelming...and fell short of expectations set by prior pre-Pandemic visits to Gustav's. Would like to attribute it to being an “off-night” there, but visit was Friday at dinner time.

If you have a hankering for German food this is the place. Super easy to get off the freeway, park, enjoy, get back on the freeway. The food is good, if a bit pricey (like everything these days). They have my favorite beer (and lots to choose from). Their cocktails are good to. The staff is on the green side (as most places post-covid). Accommodates large groups very well. Great overall experience.

Gustavs

I usually love everything about Gustav's. This time, the service was outstanding, the ambiance was excellent, the appetizers were spot-on. However... The entrees took a really long time to get out of the kitchen, particularly given that there were not a lot of people there. And, then when they did, 2 of the 4 chicken dishes were undercooked - still slightly pink - which we really don't care for. Also, the cocktails were on the sour side and could have used a better proportion of simle syrup, in our opinions. This was our first ever "miss" from Gustav's. We'll be back, and hope they were just having an off night in the kitchen and behind the bar. It's always been one of our favorite restaurants.

Always wonderful food! The bread and brat fondue is my favorite appetizer. There are too many favorite entrees to mention but if you like German sausage the duo or trio offering is fantastic.

It's been a while since I've eaten there and I was not disappointed. I love the ambiance. The server was very friendly and accommodating. I ordered chicken schnitzel with a side of one German pancake and was only charged $1.25 for the pancake. The food was delicious and came fast. The only thing I would improve is that the white wine list include more German selections. The only choice was a bottle which I didn't want. There are so many delicious German wines but I will give Gustav's a pass-maybe German wines are difficult to import these days.

When we first walked in you could tell the floor manager didn't want to be there. We got seated and our waitress was a very awkward person. I had to have my fondue taken back two times because it was cold. It's a cheese fondue- it should be bubbling. My entree was cold when I received it, but I decided not to complain because I already did from the fondue and the customer service was not happy that I sent something back. It was expensive for the quality and quantity of the food. Me and my party are never going back there again. The moment we walked through the doors we felt uncomfortable because of the customer service. Nothing there is worth going back there.

Usually I really like everything I get here. This last time we went for a birthday lunch, and I didn’t choose as well, it seems. The strawberry lemonade has some herb in it that didn’t seem to belong, to my way of thinking. My entree was a chicken schnitzel with some Italian flavor, and I should have gotten my favorite Jagerschnitzel instead. The bread pudding I got to take home was fabulous, as expected. We’ll keep coming here.
