Update on 12-25-23: If you order this food to go, be prepared to wait over an hour and your food be cold when you get it because it sits out forever before they even get it out to you. They don’t even acknowledge your existence while you’re waiting. If I could have gotten my money back and said cancel the order I would have. Never again. ALSO…after waiting an hour and a half for our food, they physically brought out our food and said they were out of pan fried noodle but here we have rice noodles instead. we had no choice and now it’s just wasted because no one wanted it. And then, no tofu for your tofu chow mein, but here’s vegetable chow main. That leaked all over the bag and container and everywhere. On top of it all, the food was cold when we got it because half of it was sitting out the entire hour and a half we sat and waited. Seriously, never ever again. Makes me worry what goes on back in the kitchen if the front is already a mess. The food is so delicious, the restaurant is clean and a nice atmosphere, pretty garden to look at, and the service was great!

Excellent food and portions, great price. Family-owned and in business locally for many years, every time I visit it is lovely.

The restaurant was really big and probably could host a party. When we first walked in, the lady was on the phone. She didn't say anything but grabbed menus, and we followed her to a table. The table was clean. The lady came back with hot tea and water. Sushi rolls were thick with rice and a small amount of fish. Our low main was alright.

Typical Americanized Asian food, but I don't exactly appreciate being pressured to buy jarred goods when I first sit down, and I wish the server would be honest about charging my company $8 for cookies that were passed off as complimentary. And the kimchi we were pressured to buy is still sitting in our fridge 2 weeks later.Be ready to spend almost $60 a visit if it's two of you. And be sure to decline anything brought over to the table that isn't given a price. The cookies weren't worth $4 a piece. They were just cookies. We were also the only people in there, and we felt harangued by staff since there was no one else for them to serve. We won't go here again. Sorry!

Very disappointed and will not be returning. This used to be a great restaurant, but the food has gone down hill drastically (I'm talking borderline spoiled chicken and all the vegetables that used to be in a dish are now all missing). We politely let them know that the chicken was 'turning' and they gave us $7 off an almost $60 ticket. I've worked in the restaurant industry for many years. Nothing I experienced tonight was ok.P.S. A giant spider popped out at the end of our table and scared my daughter, hence the low rating on atmosphere.

The BEST Mongolian Beef ever! I'm not a spicy fan; this has a lovely amt that gives it the taste but still makes my spice-loving husband happy. Wonderful portions, nice ratio of meat & veg, and lovely smooth sauce.I have eaten Chinese food (all types & regions) in 10 states and 6 European countries.I cannot recommebd it enuf!Parking: Large lot extending both sides of the restaurant.

After my wife passed away food has no interest for me. What was once a romantic occasion dinner at a nice restaurant has now become only self preservation by myself at home fixing whatever is easy and fast. I stopped by Kum Yon's last week to pick up something for dinner to take home since I do not eat at restaurants by myself. When I picked up my dinner I asked Sindy (correct spelling) if she remembered my wife. 'Of course', she said and she offered to fix me one of the dinners my wife and I had enjoyed before. She called her husband out of the kitchen and they both quizzed me on what I wanted, what I wanted it served with, and how I wanted everything cooked. Sindy took my phone number and said she would call me on Saturday to pick up my dinner Wow. The dinner was excellent, but it was secondary to the incredible gift bestowed upon me by two people I barely know who treated me like a very good friend or a chosen family member. They made me feel very special and at my age that feeling is extremely rare. No other restaurants in Coos Bay nor North Bend have come close to the friendliness I felt at Kum Yon's Restaurant. Obviously, I will keep going back to them. RJB

The food was amazing everything tasted homemade and all the food had a unique flavor and tasted like REAL Chinese food, the service was amazing we were seated immediately and everyone was so nice, the food came really fast and it felt like as soon a we walked in we were the center of attention, the seats were comfortable and every table had a hand made doily, and better yet every table had a different one. overall, the experience was amazing and I would definitely recommend coming here it also had a Zen garden in front, I loved it here and everything was delicious, Amazing and five stars.

I do feel really sad for leaving this review! For about 18 years that I've lived in coos Bay, I've enjoyed this restaurant. Rarely has there been any disappointment in my food the price, or the service! Tonight I ordered The tempura combo, Sweet n sour chicken, Three nutt shrimp, Chicken salad, and Wonton soup. It cost me $85. $95. After tip!Only thing I could eat was my soup. Rest wasn't edible!! Not enough space to describe everything wrong. And no receipt to boot. I'll never eat there now. Sorry$95 lesson learned. And I Doubt they would fix this.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in a long time. Server was lifeless and barely spoke. Our meals seemed as if they were frozen food that had been heated up chewy and flavorless. Not like any food I’ve ever had at any Asian restaurant.
