Perhaps I had built up my expectations too much. We had a great waiter, Nicole, who didn't recommend my wife get the beef filet because, at medium well doneness it would likely be tough. I should have paid close attention as I ordered the filet medium rare. Well, the filet came, was very tough and done to what I would call medium, not medium rare (warm but rare center). They graciously cooked me another filet which was also medium, but only tough around the edges (the silver skin had not been removed) and I ate it. Everything else was great! The veggies and potatoes were excellent, the presentation beautiful. Even the house Cabernet was very good. If we travel to Coos Bay and go again, I will avoid the beef steaks.

My wife and I finally decided to give this place a try. We've heard mixed reviews about the restaurant, and were apprehensive about the high costs, but our curiosity got the best of us and we decided to give it a try for the new year. The decor is okay. It's sort of a sterile look and didn't stand out as an upscale interior. The dining room was mostly empty with one other couple. I'd describe it simply as "uneventful." But hey, I'm here for the food! One quick mention of the service - it was great. We were attended to by what appeared to be the only waiter, and she was very polite. She attended to us very well and answered all of our questions with no hesitation. I couldn't have asked for better service. We ordered a cheese plate as an appetizer. But first, we were given an amuse-boucher, which composed of a halved cherry tomato drizzled in balsamic vinegar, paired a gazpacho shooter, garnished with a sprig of basil. An excellent start to our dinner! Our cheese plate came next. It was plated excellently, on a cut round of wood, and priced just as well. Various cheeses, meats, nuts, crackers, and some strawberries circled a tiny bowl of quick pickled veggies and another containing red pepper infused honey. If you end up at this restaurant and purchase nothing else, this plate is worth the inexpensive indulgence. We also ordered bread and olive oil. It was a very small serving of bread (see in the background of the cheese plate image), and nothing to write home about. There was an overwhelmingly large amount of balsalmic vinegar on the bottom that was sort of a surprise with the last piece of bread. The bowl was too dark for us to know that there was vinegar in it, and I wish it were served in a white bowl instead for this fact alone. Black or red pepper on top would have been a good gesture as well. Then our entrees came. My wife ordered the spiced crispy pork belly, and she was very unimpressed as it had very little flavor. I ordered some sort of fish (I believe steelhead or salmon), which was presented on top of "jasmine" rice. Did I upload a photo of either entrees for this review? No. The plating for both entrees was bland and unappetizing, but let me describe what mine looked like; a piece of grilled fish on rice with grey sauce. And that's exactly how it tasted like. Not only did it have no flavor, but I could have gone to 7 Devils Waterfront Alehouse and gotten a much better fish entree with a better atmosphere and a smaller bill. This was one of the worst fish entrees I've ever had in my life, like someone in the kitchen just gave up. It was disappointing to say the least, and made us wonder how someone would have thought this was acceptable for the price. To end the meal, we opted for the churros with cacao chocolate sauce, and were not impressed. The churro had a weird consistency to it, as though it was not fried, and the whole dessert was simply not appetizing. I recommend frozen churros from the grocery store instead. We ended up paying around $130 for the both of us, mind you this included some mixed drinks that were pretty good, but overshadowed by our disappointing entrees. I've been to restaurants in the same price range (and higher), but this place pales in comparison to all of them. I've had much better food with a more welcoming atmosphere at a fraction of the price. We told a pair of our friends about our dinner and they said that they had the same experience - great appetizers with extremely disappointing entrees. It's as though one person who puts together the entrees simply doesn't realize they're working at what's supposed to be an upscale restaurant. It completely broke the experience. As we were leaving, we noticed that a large group of people came in and appeared to have ordered mostly pasta. If we go back again, that's the route we're going to take, especially since it's more moderately priced and harder to screw up. In all, I would not recommend Restaurant O. Whoever is putting these entrees toget

We had an amazing 5 course meal that definitely did not disappoint!! It's always fun to try new foods with Chef O- not only is the presentation beautiful, the food is divine. Paired with some Silver Oak cab—it made for an amazing dinner and experience!

This was one of the most horrible restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. Horrible service, no water, didn’t take our order for 40 minutes, no utensils…actually asked if I needed some with my meal…no steak knives for my beef wellington…it goes on and on. A Valentine’s dinner for the books!!!

Where do I begin, we arrived at our reservation time and were told it would be a bit of a wait. The hostess, the wife of the chef, blamed it on the customers that like to linger. Rule number 1, never blame your customers! We waited 30 minutes for our table. The hostess continued to blame it on their customers for our being seated late, we got to our table and she informed our waiter that we had been waiting 30 minutes and then ran off. Our waiter, deer in the headlights look, didn't even know where to start. Phil, I think his name was, made the issue even worst, we stated that we had reserved the 9 course tasting and he just curtly stated that wasn't available tonight and that they had another tasting because of Valentine's Day. That left us feeling even more dissatisfied, never apologized just left the table for us to decide what to do. Finally he came back, I showed him our booking and asked why we were never called about this before our reservation, no answer. We decided to order off the menu. The food arrived and was very good as always although a little cold and maybe not as well presented. But non the less very good. Looking around the upstairs dining area there were 6 tables that had been left uncleared for our whole time there, Phil never attempted to clean them up and his skills as a waiter were very lackluster. We finished and thought about dessert, waited for our plates to be removed for another half hour, nothing. Finally having had enough of our bad experience we left, went downstairs to pay out bill, which Phil never brought to our table. Finally he appeared downstairs to give us our bill, we payed and left. My husband has never not left a tip before and left no tip this time. This was by far the worst experience we have ever had. Mind you we had eaten at this restaurant 5 times before and had a great time. Let me just say, it's not the customers fault I think you need to look at your own processes as to why customers are feeling like we did.

This was our third time at the restaurant. I love their French onion soup! I don't like onions but I even ate them. Our waiter was good but kind of inattentive. Not against him just needs to step it up a little. Will be back for our anniversary. Thanks for being such a wonderful place to enjoy such great food

We enjoyed excellent service from Stephanie who was delightful to share the evening with and she was very informative about the dishes. The food was amazing!! Every food we tried was delectable! So grateful to have this fine restaurant in our community.

Absolutely dismal. Very poor service, not once did our waitress ask how our meal, appetizer or drinks were. 45 minutes to get our crab cakes that were worse than anything Costco sells. $50 O pinot noir was barely passable. My filet and my son's lobster were both WAY overcooked. Worse $190 I ever spent.

I isually write good reviews because I like to rave about things I like. If I really enjoy something I want to share it with other people so they can enjoy it too! reataraunt O is not something I would rave about. I was super unimpressed with this trying to be high scale place. It does kind of have the feel but it doesn't have the food. I got lobster and it was so dry and had a big black spot. If you want lobster in Coos Bay go to Hilltop House. noone at the table was real impressed honestly. back when it was benettis it definately wasn't trying to be classy but they had great food.

First time coming here and it was great our server Stephanie was awesome super funny, attentive, and polite. The drinks and food was great and even though there was a bit of a wait it was 100% worth it. Highly recommend.

This was my first wine pairing event at Restaurant O, and having been to others, I am impressed with my experience. The timing was off, I had my wine served 10-15 minutes prior to my food pairing, but overall, everything was great!

Our dinner at Restaurant O was extraordinary. We saw the bright lights of the crab boats out at sea the night before, and thought of the fishermen working in the cold and inky darkness. Chef O honored their labor and the iconic Dungeness crab in his presentation inspired by the Pacific - - an abstract and very tasty depiction of the sea, complete with foam. It was the best of all worlds to enjoy fresh crab elevated to fine dining through the imagination and artistry of MasterChef O'Neill. Restaurant O is the best restaurant on the Oregon coast.

My husband ordered the 6 course only the chef knows the menu and was pleasantly surprised. He really enjoyed the wine with the meal it perfectly paired with the food. They even gave me a taste of it and wow was it good. They did a happy birthday dessert for him. It was great to meet the chef and our waiter Bill was right on it for everything. Thanks for a great 69th birthday celebration
