I wanted to like this restaurant so badly but left feeling disappointed. We went on a busy night, so I'm sure it's not usually like this, but I can only speak from my experience.Starter bread was half-heated and stale. The duck confit was overdone and would not let go of the bone. Most of my meal was still on the bone and cold by the time I gave up on trying to eat it politely without picking it up with my hands. Cocktails and desert were great, and the woman who was our server was a joy -- but both of our main course meals weren't worth the price of the experience overall.

Food was delicious! Service was great, except we never got the bread plate we ordered. I also wish they had some mocktails on their menu. Mushroom pastry was amazing. Could also be a little more light in the outdoor area. Overall a great experience though, and I'm sure I'll go again!

The portions were tiny. And not that great. The beet salad was mediocre. And my friends 4 scallops were cold. We ordered 2 bread and butter but still left to get more food else where. The staff was rude and inattentive. They just made it seem like our party of 2 wasn't worth their time. And they wernt overly busy. Definitely won't be back.

The first time we went here the food and service were great. We planned to make this a regular spot. Our second visit, the food was great but our waiter was unpleasant. We enjoyed everything we tried, which was 2/3 of the menu. The octopus is delicious.

Next level cocktails with amazing food. Ive only ever had the chefs tasting menu when I've been here, full transparency. It's been creative and delicious. It is a tiny spot, but a couple more tables open up when the weather improves. Reservations are required.

We went for my mom's birthday. They only had reservations for 4:15pm, so we decided to get an early dinner.Their menú convinced me to go to Bar Purlieu.I loved they didn't settled for pizza, hamburger and pasta as other places.I decided to order a chicken schnitzel and my mom got a fish and kale salad with a mushroom tart. All main dishes where delicious, but specifically the mushroom tart.We also ordered a charcuterie board and a cocktail with anis.Everything was good, but the serving might improve. Liquids dripped a little on the table while serving and the seafood was a little cold. Just a little improvement on that.We will definitely visit again and try the rest of the menú.Thanks for treating us so nicely.Cheers!!Parking: On Saturdays, after 4pm, parking is available in the building next to the restaurant.

This used to be the best restaurant in Eugene. I went tonight and was utterly disappointed. I brought friends for their birthday dinner, and I feel embarrassed to have hyped this place up so much. Dishes that used to be generous and inspired were absolutely lacking. The adequatelyprepared scallops swam in a gloopy, over-salted “mushroom”Risotto that had exactly one mushroom. The “schnitzel” was a pounded piece of fried chicken that lacked flavor topped with a tartar sauce and no side. Most insultingly the “steak and frites” was about 2 oz of shredded steak atop 4 lbs of French fries. The most flavorful part of the meal was the aioli. The wait staff was excellent, but the food was an utter disappointment. This went from being one of my all time favorite restaurants in the US to a place I will never visit again in one night. $250 for sub par food doesn’t cut it. I recommend you avoid this restaurant.

Incredible dining experience overall, from the top notch service to a wonderful wine and cocktail menu, and of course the dishes perfectly executed in a chic comfortable space what more could you ask for. Plenty to choose from on the French inspired menu including an wonderful selection of fresh local seafood, beef, poultry and produce. Great place to have a cocktail and apps at the bar or a romantic dinner in a booth. My personal opinion this is the best all around restaurant in Eugene and Springfield hands down.

Food and service was excellent. Intimate environment with an open kitchen/bar area. The photo is the ling cod, the best dish of the night.

I wouldn’t recommend going! Food was average in taste, but they serve you less than a child might get from a kids menu. We were one of four parties, and the service was very slow. Our plates were brought out over a ten minute period, because of the small kitchen, so some of the food was cold by the time we were all served.

Dinner tonight at Bar Purlieu was easily one of the top 3 meals I've ever had in Eugene. We were warmly greeted by Abbey and shown to a cozy booth, a booth fit for 4 but seemingly perfect occupied by just two.David our server proceeded to come by with useful suggestions for beverages both alcoholic for the father and of the mocktail variety for myself. After a quick study of the menu it was clear what appetizer and entrees we would be engaging. The Pork Belly with fish sauce came first, all I can say is before I could even chew the appetizer it melted in my mouth, the fish sauce and chilis complemented it quite splendidly. It would be a disservice not to mention Jane behind the bar, she had "big drink" energy and took every opportunity to share banter with dad. I sipped my mocktail and tried my best not to egg on the sassiness. Next time I'll engage her beverages and report back. The entrees delivered to us were small but mighty. We ordered the smaller portions so we could diversify. My Dad started with the Shellfish Catalan a delicious fusion of Mediterranean Mussels, Manila Clams, Shrimp, and a House Chorizo. The shrimp had such flavor....it must have been swimming in the sauce for hours...mmmmI partook in the Grilled Octopus and SearedSea Scallops respectively. The Octopus was the weak link of the dinner but that in not by any means saying it was bad, just the rest of the meal was so elevated. The Seared Sea Scallops were probably the best I've ever eaten....having resided in SEA, SB, & SD...this came as a surprise to me too. I only had 3, so I cut them in half and savored each piece slowly....letting the flavor envelope my tongue....I made sure to eat that last as to let it stay lingering on my tongue. As we sat there in disbelief of the meal we had just enjoyed Abbey came by and dropped a desert menu in front of us.....siiigh....well since we are here...We shared a Black Garlic Crème Brûlée (Per Davids delectable suggestion) and a house made Chocolate Mousse....both were an absolute delight.Absolutely worth the it price of everything consumed.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We will be back in a couple of weeks.
