I may have ordered wrong. The scallops were chewy and they were served under a bed of leeks. I don't know why they think that dish is good. It isn't. Nobody eats that many leeks and enjoys it. The steak was stellar as well as the clams and bread. The wine was pretty yummy too. I enjoyed the pairing.

We love Grit, everything from the quality and flavor of the food to the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. We have never left disappointed. They also have killer drinks. Highly recommend!

Our experience at Grit is one for the memories! We visited this restaurant in August a few days after getting married. We ordered bread and butter, the deep fried scallops, sweet potato gnocchi, hand-made pappardalle pasta, and a couple of cocktails. The seafood was fresh, the pasta was perfectly al-dante, and the flavors of it all were fantastic! The cocktails were also out of this world - would definitely be a great happy-hour spot if you're not too tempted to stay for dinner! We will be back when we return to the area.

Disappointing. Risotto undercooked and deep fried red scallions switched for red onion with no mention ( I don't eat red onions) Hurried service - I was asked to order before my first cocktail was served! ( has the table for an hour so no need to hurry) also they were "out of fish for the nightly special of Fish and chips! At 5:30 pm? Already a very limited menu.

I get it, COVID is happening and nothing is the same. I appreciate all of the workers & local restaurants and understand they are all struggling. That being said, I was pretty disappointed with Grit. I've been eyeing that place for a year now and decided to finally go on my birthday. The drinks were the best part. The appetizers came in at a close second (bunuelos & scallops, both with creative & flavorful sauces) but the service & the entree's fell flat. I made a reservation over two weeks ago and my party was unfortunately sat inside. My rabbit entree was dry & tasteless, my associates both got a fried chicken sandwich that was a tad undercooked and bland, and the salads were unimaginative. If you go, I suggest sitting outside for drinks & appetizers only. Ambience is nice. I'll stick to my sure things for now...*Another issue-they have a sign up at the tables asking each table to only stay an hour and a half, and we felt rushed. For this much money you don't want to feel rushed, and it felt incredibly rude*

Just, incredible. Everything about this place is great. The staff is genuinely pleasant, kind & attentive. Our waitress Emily was funny, easygoing & a joy to talk to. The food - unreal. I never order chicken at restaurants but the description had me curious. Everything on their menu is for the season - this is a farm to table place. Best chicken I've ever had in my entire life. My husband ordered the duck - spectacular. Everything tasted so vibrant & fresh. The chefs seriously know how to cook. I love the idea of a constantly changing menu, this means we can return as often as we'd like & always find something new. If I could give more than 5 stars I would - best restaurant experience I've had in Eugene, hands down!! If you're reading this, wondering if you should try eating here, do your future self a favor & do it. You will not regret it!

Grit is great, the food has always exceeded expectations, the drinks are solid and are made fast. Most house cocktails take a good chunk of time to appear at your table. The service has always been fantastic as well. Great place for a splurge dinner!

We live close to Grit, been going there weekly lately, the last two weeks, once at 6:30 and once at 8 both times we really wanted there yummy bread and butter! Both time they tell us there out!? What the actual f@#k? How do you run out of bread and butter? They give you bread and butter in prison, its not that difficult! Also, side note, the deep fried green beans were over seasoned and the lasagna was bland, for a $100 meal im extremely disappointed!

Good farm to table food. I enjoyed everything we ordered, and the drinks were solid. Forewarning: the "pencil it in" is great, but smokey. Luckily I like smokey cocktails, but if you're not into them I would avoid it. The duck and polenta was a solid choice. The most delicious part of the dinner was the beñuelos which are a cheesey donut ball. Definitely get those, and some to take home. Overall I would rate at least what i had as solid and delicious, but not mind blowing. A good staple for date night.

@gritinthewit did not disappoint for our last dinner in Eugene. Highly recommend this farm to table restaurant located in the Whittaker district of Eugene. The Hama Hama oysters (although one month early of season) were so creamy and amazing with the ginger garlic mignonette. The wedge with strawberries and pistachios had a unique mix of crunch and sweet. Oh but the halibut. Peak season. Fresh off the boat. UNREAL. Finished off with chocolate flourless cake. Great find in a cute neighborhood with intimate and caring service during covid. Outdoor experience is lovely. Service was impressive. Fresh local farm ingredients, produce and fish was perfection. A must for Eugene dining. #foodie #eateugene #restaurantseugene #oregoneats #eugeneeats #griteugene #foodporn #instagramfood

Third time here. All times mediocre. This was the worst. Terrible service and bland, overpriced food that was only interesting in the description. I have NO IDEA why people rave about Grit. Total cost for 2 with $45 bottle of wine: $160 before tip. Two stars for pleasant outdoor seating. My advice, give this place a hard pass and head over to outdoor seating at The Excelsior, Marche' or King Estate. You'll be glad you did.

Due to the sheer volume of fake five star reviews left for companies, by companies, four stars is the highest rating I’ve ever left for the best company offering the best product or service. This company earns my best rating. Despite the fact they served my wife a drink she didn’t like, they refunded the cost and served her another drink she liked. The draft beer, daily specials, and BLT are the bomb-dot-com. This is and remains my regular spot.

I'll give a three because I'm sure covid has made some operations difficult. So I'll give the benefit of the doubt on parts. Drinks. Well crafted and created. Probably the high point of the meal. I definitely could see this as a drinking spot. Starters. We got both the deep fried scallops and beans. I don't understand how a mainstay on the menu can be executed so poorly. The batter didn't adhere so you had greasy globs of batter and the innards beside it. It tasted fine and the sauces were good but just kind of a mess I got the saltimbocca sandwich. My worry was that it would be too salty. It wasn't but it also wasn't super interesting either. The cool bun kind of smothered everything out anyway. My son had buttered noodles. Pretty Dente end of al dente. I'm surprised he ate it. A couple of us got the gnocchi which was pretty dense. Not super impressed. Pacing of the meal was very slow. I'll blame covid for now.

We hadn't been to Grit in at least a year. We got to sit outside which was lovely. The menu was a little bit of a let down. Main dish wise, there was fish, duck and falafel. There was no beef, chicken or pork at all. So I got the falafel, it was good. Our server was very nice and seemed like she enjoyed her job. The cocktails were good.

This was the first time I've eaten out at a restaurant during the pandemic. They have some great outdoor seating with nice big shade trees, dining on the deck was delightful. Masks are required when away from your table. I felt very comfortable and safe eating here. They have a nice cocktail list and every drink sounded perfect for a summer evening. I got the Punch #95. It was tasty, not to sweet, and a good strength for me, I got a pleasant buzz, but I could imagine anyone bigger than me wouldn't feel it!We ordered the bunuelos as an appetizer and they were HORRIBLE. They were ridiculously salty. I told the server this and she asked if she could get us something else. We declined, but I don't think we should have been charged for them. We didn't finish them. I don't know if that's how they're supposed to taste or if it was a mistake, but they were really bad. That's why I took a star away. I'm tempted to take 2 stars away, that's how bad they were.I ordered the pappardelle and braised duck. I'm a s***** for housemate pasta. This fish was very nicely seasoned and the padron peppers were a fun touch. The pappardrlle was slightly stiffer than I like, but I still really enjoyed the fish.Service was pleasant, dining here is a wonderful way to spend a pandemic evening!
