Delicious yuzu shoyu ramen, miso cashew (vegan) dumplings, yuzu shio edamame, and albacore tuna donburi! The outdoor seating area with fire pit tables is cozy. Thank you Michael for your hospitality!

Showed up 30 mins before close, hosts clearly did not want to serve us. Was repeatedly told we would only have 5 mins to order. Food was delicious but the poor service completely ruined the meal, it was literally the worst service I've ever experienced.

The food was okay - lacking some flavor in the Japanese fried chicken. The crispy ramen was tasty however! Finished the night with their tofu donuts. Hard to believe they have tofu in them, they taste so much like a regular donut!

The service is so hit or miss. On a previous visit the waitress was attentive and friendly. But on most recent visit a different waitress could not have been less interested. She obviously did not want to be there and was so unfriendly. Going through the motions. As for the food, the chicken kaarage was soggy. Ramen was ok but nothing to get excited about. Seasonal tuna-don dish was good.

Wish they'd have more GFO options - like rice noodles swap.

Just fabulous. This location is super cute. Amazing ramen, the special with a mini app and a Bev is such a great deal. Such a fun time!

Delicious food! I tried multiple dishes, and every single one of them was so good! The rice bowls and ramen are a great price and will definitely fill you up! The small plates are also great appetizers such as the gyoza, which was absolutely delicious! The restaurant is very nice as well it has a great ambiance. Also the service was super quick! We got our food within 5 minutes of ordering and they were so fresh and so good!

Food is good. But the kitchen staff seems unhappy to work there. Kills the whole vibe. Servers seem short staffed and/or inattentive.

This place has great food and service. Their house Pilsner is also delicious. Indoor and outdoor dining. Always a treat.

Afuri is a Portland staple, and I am so glad that their locations keep popping up in new neighborhoods. The slabtown spot is more industrial than its other locations, with the large indoor space being light, airy, and very open. The ceilings are extra tall so you will feel as if your dining experience is more personal thanks to the intentional design. Outdoors, the heated patio is great whenever the rain is not occurring. We took one of the outdoor tables, and the servers were very quick to help us. We were surprised at how attentive they were outside, considering other Portland restaurants often avoid sending staff outside. Great job! Each of us ordered one of the teas, and they are all great options. My only feedback would be to include more non-caffeinated teas or tisanes. The food was brought to us quite quickly, which made all of us happy after finishing some workouts. I ordered the softshell crab bun and the seasonal tuna don bowl. Both were exceptional, but, the softshell crab is a truly unique experience. The entire crab is cooked, without the shell, and I could come back to consume one of these often. The bathrooms are pretty far inside, so if you have to go, I'd recommend going once. However, I was wearing cycling shoes so my experience was slightly more challenging. I am sure for anyone else it would be ideal. Parking is very challenging in this area - plan to bike or walk over.

Everytime I ask for no toppings on a ramen or toppings on the side, they make a very big fuss and say no. But the thing is, sometimes they will.My 7 year old just doesn’t really want the toppings. Feels wasteful to have that beautiful pork and egg just not be eaten and thrown in the bin. And for that dear friends; 2 stars.

Came here one evening and thought that it was a great place for a casual dinner! their menu is pretty diverse in that it offers a multitude of small plates and ramens (with unique twists). The inside of the restaurant is beautiful (especially in the evening) and if you come on a nice night outside, then you can sit outside at one of their fireplaces! My boyfriend and I ordered two ramen combos: the tonkatsu shio and the yuzu tsuyu with the potstickers and takoyaki. Unfortuantely, when they brought out the yuzu tsuyu, it was mixed up with an order of yuzu shoyu. However! Our waitress was very kind, apologized, and sent in a new order of yuzu tsuyu for us. The food overall was great and the portions were perfect. Despite the mix-up, service was also amazing. I had a great time here and would come again to this location.

AFURI is growing in popularity, and for good reason. Yuzu is all over the menu and it’s a great touch to some much loved Japanese soul food. The Yuzu Edamame has a strong acidity, the Spicy Karage Don was my favorite behind the Yuzu Ratan Ramen. If you want good ramen look no further.
