One of the best bakeries in Portland! Everything is phenomenal, especially the almond danishes (wish they had these all year round!!), megan's maple twist, and scone. DO NOT miss pie day (or croissant day if they ever do it again!) - always one of the highlights of the year. Wish they hadn't gotten rid of the seating

Great fresh bread and pastries. Everything we tried was delicious. Love having this bakery within walking distance of my daughter's house.

I consider myself an enthusiastic expert in all things pastry related... This place should not be missed by anyone who enjoys sweets. They have so many delicious items to choose from. One of the region's best places for pastries and treats. And their lunch items are exceptionally good too. My favorite is the seasonal fruit hand pie. ?
Good recipes and everything is tasty. Overpriced. I can get the same type of baked goods at half the price in Nice France... Terrible service. They are rarely open. Open late and close early. Terrible atmosphere. Its clear they want you to leave asap.

The local neighborhood bakery that, for the longest time, I’d argue, made the best pastries and bread in town. For a long time, me and anyone I knew who would go there would be greeted warmly, often by name. The employees who worked there really seemed to relish their special place as a community hub of hillsdale.I still regularly go, as the baking that happens there is still 2nd to none. But at some point in the last year or two the employee energy and vibe has become unwelcoming and brings an aura of superiority, like they are doing us (the community that supports them) a favor by just being there. There’s a lack of care and honestly a like of pride. You make beautiful pastries and bread that makes people happy! Don’t spoil that opportunity to make someone’s day with total disdain for the public and I guess maybe your job. This was the Tuna Salad Sandwich I had tossed towards me today. Whoever made this just doesn’t care about what they do, and it makes it hard to keep coming back.

The best bakery in the Metro area ! Our favorites are the rhubarb hand pies, the seeded sandwich bread, tayberry pear pie, cranberry scone, and the garden bread.
They have the most irritating and SLOW method of handling customers - you must take a number otherwise they can’t serve you. The reception when your number is finally called (allow at least 10 mins to be summoned) is frosty & aloof. You then order, and wait again (min 5 mins).Just seems a very impersonal and alienating method of handling more than a couple of customers? its a small 'local' bakery?!that said, all can be forgiven when you eat anything that is made there - absolutely first rate!

Yummy pastries! I arrived on a Sunday morning and there was no wait and plenty of options. All were delicious.
This is the best bakery in Portland, hands down. Closest thing to a true European bakery. Ingredients are high quality. Chocolate croissants contain chocolate ganache, and not just a dry chocolate stick in the center. Bread is wonderful.

What more can I say that hasn't already been said? The food is super good. They have a ticket system in order to prevent one long line. In the hour we were there they served more than 60 people. There is very limited seating inside. Everything is so delicious.

Simply the best. Everything here is excellent, pastries, cookies, bread, Sandwiches, breakfast croissant, etc etc. fortunately don’t live in Portland anymore or would truly overindulge. Go whenever we visit tho:) have been going to them before they even had a brick and mortar location, when they were doing their amazing hand pies at the Portland farmers market:) and I am so happy they have only gotten better and better. And I find their staff very nice, harried as they are quite busy but always helpful and accommodating, and can’t wait to check out the cakery, as they also make amazing amazing cakes:) highest recommendation

I just made a purchase at Baker and Spice. I really appreciate the staff taking all precautions to NOT touch their products, using tissues, tongs and plastic bags. I don't appreciate the owner (a gray haired gentleman) using his bare hands to deliver bread to the storefront shelves. He touched every loaf. Haven't we all learned a few things about viruses and germs? Perhaps he could learn a few things from his ever diligent staff. Owners should follow rules, too. Is Baker and Spice losing touch (pun intended)?
