I took a date to bamboo sushi and we had a fantastic time. We were personally shown to our table by the manager, Thayne, who was friendly, courteous, conversational and very professional. The atmosphere was chill. The food (and drinks) were both excellent. I'm definitely adding this to my list of restaurants to return to.

This Bamboo Sushi was a fantastic buffer as we had to wait 45 minutes for a table literally next door. Similar to another Bamboo S. my daughter took us to back in Sept '23, the modern style continues with a fresh energy. Our two cocktails looked real nice on paper and also when we got them- but the alcohol situation was nearly nil. Regardless, what took this moment to the next level was the deep fried Cauliflower kissed so gently with like teriyaki and cashews sprinkled on top.

This place is magnificent. The atmosphere is exactly what I look for in a place, but most almost importantly is the delicious sushi that they craft in the kitchen. The Unicorn role is truly a Unicorn, I've never found such an exquisite tasting role of sushi. I don't know what they do with that thing, but it's actually a flavorful experience I can only get from a fine dining restaurant. So many complexities that exist within that role. The green machine is another favorite. Whatever goes into making that sauce is just delicious!Just as important is the service. Jared that works behind the bar has always been so incredible. He is a genuinely kind guy and cares about you as if you'r e one of his closest friends (and this is only my second time having him as a server at the bar in the past year!). I'm so glad he still works at bamboo sushi because I remembered his warm welcoming and service from the last time I was there. The only thing that has kept me from coming here more often is the price of sushi, but I can say that the price is justified. I also think that they either dropped the prices since the last time I came there . . . Or I can now afford it, not sure!I always talk VERY highly of Bamboo Sushi and it's my #1 recommendation for Sushi when people visit Portland and it's because of your trifecta of delicious food, incredible staff, and wonderful ambience.Vegetarian options: Green Machine

Bamboo Sushi is a nice spot for good sushi. The atmosphere is very intimate and semi-romantic. Our drinks for the night were the Bamboo Old Fashion and the Moonlight, both were quite tasty. Our miso salad was good. The sushi rolls we ordered were tasty as well (I don't remember which ones we ordered, but no complaints). We also ordered the brownie ice cream dessert which didn't disappoint.

Tried this place for the first time off uber eats because my local sushi place was closed. The food looked cery similar to the photos even from delivery, so I'll have to go in person next time to get a better experience. The food tasted amazing and the Wasabi was basically perfect in my opinion, but the only thing holding me back from giving it 5 stars is the portion size to price ratio. One roll to get delivered to me was 16 dollars and it was 8 relatively small pieces of Sushi that tasted great, but weren't the most filling. I will be going back for more.

I've had bamboo prior to covid and wasn't a huge fan honestly. Moving on to the present time, I dined with a couple of my girl friends and the sushi was pretty good! I'm not huge on having a lot of sauce on my rolls or sushi in general and prefer nigiri, but the sauces on these rolls weren't too overwhelming. We got the sunset roll, Friday the 13th, crispy rice spicy tuna, salmon nigiri with yuzu, and spicy scallop nigiri. Out of all the sushi, the spicy scallop was the best! It was so well flavored and soft like butter. Our server was great, but I found it weird that we had to ask for wasabi after receiving 3 rolls and ask for water even though we left it on the side of the table empty. They were super kind but I feel like they could have been more attentive. Parking is typical in the area the restaurant is in -- street parking. It's also next door to Ken's pizza so expect to spend time finding parking!

We came in around 8pm on a Saturday night and were able to grab a table for two shortly, though I recommend reservations for large groups, as the place was fairly packed! My husband mentioned his celiac disease and the waiter didn't need any more prompting to assist us. He immediately mentioned the three or four things on the menu (which were labeled) that contained gluten, but also mentioned that the deep fryer was gluten-free so tempura and karage were available as safe options. We usually have to ask about deep-fried stuff, so we were impressed the waiter answered our question without us needing to ask. Additionally, all their "soy sauce" is tamari, which is such an inclusive move I love to see restaurants make in order to make most of their dishes gluten-free. The menu is very large and I was able to easily find some vegan options for myself as well. There was some delay on our waiter's end and he took several minutes to come back to us after jotting our edamame appetizer order and leaving us to look at the menu for our other options. However, the bartender noticed we were ready to order and stopped what he was doing to take our order. After the order was submitted, the food came our very quickly! As far as the food itself, the marinated shiitake roll was underwhelming for me, but I'm willing to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, as everything else we ordered was great. We spent $41 (minus tip) on two sushi places and two shared appetizers, which was a great value! Bonus- they also source MSC and ASC certified sustainable seafood! We will definitely be back! Note that parking is pretty limited and reservations for weekend nights are great if you can plan ahead.

The OG location. Stellar as always. Loving the availability and freshness of Uni these days. May seem crazy to order a burger at a sushi spot, do it, you won’t be disappointed. Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna was also a table favorite.Vegetarian options: Ask about rolls that can be made vegan. More options than you might think!

Not only is this the best sushi in town, but when we had an issue with our order (due to no fault of Bamboo Sushi) Ryan was extremely kind and helpful, sending us new rolls to replace the ones that the DoorDasher ate from our box. Bamboo Sushi, you rule!Vegetarian options: Green machine!

The food was very good, but the service was lacking. Our server forgot a variety of things-water didn’t get refilled, we had no utensils or soy sauce for awhile, and he forgot about one of our orders. He did end up taking $10 off our bill for the forgotten item, but we would have been much happier if the order hadn’t been forgotten in the first place. He also didn’t check on us very often, and spent about 15 minutes talking to someone at bar while we were trying to get his attention. Not a very satisfying experience. We usually go to the Bamboo in NW and have not had these issues.

I really enjoy coming to Bamboo now and I have for almost a decade. I was sad to have to abstain for a few years because of the pandemic and financial strain, but we are back, baby! I love their happy hour menu - you can get an excellent $6 hand roll that is just filled to the brim with deliciousness. If you want to splurge and hit up those sashimi options - go ahead, make your day (they are $$$ though). If I had all the endless $ to spend on their carefully crafted sashimi, I'd spend hundreds every day here: THEY ARE DELICIOUS. I can't, though, but I can happily and endlessly recommend the happy hour options. And every now and then will enjoy some of those beautiful nigiri.

The spicy tuna seems to be inexplicably cut with red tobiko roe.. so when you order anything spicy tuna, be prepared for beet-red dyed roe and less tuna than you would have expected. All the prepared rolls had such unpalatable "creative" flavor combinations.. you'd take one bite and think "interesting".. but have no interest in finishing the rest. The salmon is farm raised which to me is so sketchy - yes it's sustainable, but they also feed farmed salmon the equivalent of dog food...much higher incidence of parasites. Farmed salmon gives me crazy gas because the fats of the fish are not natural- it's just bad all around. The tuna and other sashimi was very good- stick with that.
