This is an OG Portland business going strong since 1978. If you like your cold cuts nitrate free and cut to order, then this is the place for you. Be sure to grab a number and a basket near the door before heading back to the meat counter! It's a small place, with a European feel. Bring some patience if you go on a Saturday. It takes time to slice orders, but there are also at least five or so staff to help you. Just breathe it in... literally, because it smells so good! They have delicious cheeses and breads, Milka chocolate (and other goodies), and a small selection of locally made desserts. There is a sit down area for eating the various sandwiches and sausages they offer from their deli. Cold drinks are on hand, even coke from Mexico with real sugar. Wines and beers are available as well. Do not come here if you are looking for low fat or vegan options! You have been warned. Everything I have ever tried from Edelweiss has been top notch.
