Unique bar and great food. The angle of the sun was the only problem. But here in Portland it's hard to complain about the sun which you have no control of.

I have been wanting to visit Expatriate for years now, and finally got around to it last night. It did not disappoint! The staff were so knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive, the cocktails were complex and delicious, and the spiced fries were TO DIE FOR! Can't wait to come back and try more of the food menu.

Amazing cocktails and food, and a fantastic happy hour. I especially recommend the tea leaf salad, which is transcendent, and the cheeseburgers.

WHAT A VIBE! Expatriate was highly suggested to us & it didn’t disappoint. We got cocktails - I had a whiskey/ ginger beer concoction - and also grabbed the French fries, butter bread & salad. All were amazing & I can’t wait to go back and get the nachos without meat!Vegetarian options: They could do the Nachos without meat & the salad was AMAZING

The BEST cocktail bar in the Vancouver or Portland area. There isn’t a close second. The drinks are creative and phenomenal, atmosphere is intimate but not stuffy at all and the food absolutely out of this world! The manager is constantly spinning different records every night so your evenings soundtrack here is always unique and memorable. If you like to be pleasantly surprised with your cocktail experience, get The Diplomat’s Pouch! ??

Dinner at Expatriate was one of my all time favorites on a recent trip to Portland. We made an impromptu visit one evening after it was recommended to us by a friend. We started off dinner with James Beard’s Onion and Butter Sandwich. We couldn’t leave without trying this novelty — They were simple butter sandwiches that were actually curiously delicious. We also had the Hot & Sour Indian Spiced Fries, which were really well seasoned and served with sumac ranch and curry ketchup. My favorite of the evening was the Burmese Coconut Noodles, a coconut curry soup base with fried duck confit, a ramen egg, and tamarind, absolutely delicious. I would come back for this dish again and again, such a unique combination of texture and flavor.

Super cool, mellow, classy cocktail bar. High end, but doesn't take itself seriously. The "I woke up like this" level of cool.
