I love veggie-based sandwiches/burgers and this place has some of the best. I’m not vegan, but they just make great food.

Fermenter is our favorite restaurant in Portland and one of the things that made us happy we moved here — I’ve been to a lot of vegan spots across the country but this place is special. Food has always been exceptional, but so has everyone we’ve interacted with. So so so sad to see this concept come to an end, but can’t wait to see what they do next!

The food at Fermenter is incredible! Unique variations on your favorite meals. Wel worth the price, and the price isn't even crazy. Employees seem to be taken care of. I'd Reccomend to any vegan or non vegan alike.Get your ferment on!Ps: try the kombucha...

Food is average but every order they put a 18% gratuity even though you have to stand in line and place your order on an iPad. They tell you about the tip before you pay but I personally just don’t think it’s worth it since it’s already overpriced. They also forgot about my friend’s order and when we mentioned it to the staff they remade it and brought it out. The kombucha is good enough.

Absolutely insanely good food!!I prefer the Fermenter Burger to the Reuben, but I think that’s just preference. So innovative and so tasty!!!Vegetarian options: 100% vegan

Update: They apparently no longer have the Koji fries!?!? :( Really, really disappointed to be charged $15 for plain French fries (that I frankly would have preferred not to have) in place of Koji fries when we ordered takeout - probably won't order again. The burger was unusually dry this time as well. They don't use the reusable containers for delivery anymore, which is disappointing.Previous review:Love the food and beverages! Amazing burgers, sandwiches, potato salad, jojos, kombucha and kefir! I have yet to try anything here that hasn't impressed me, and I always leave with a growler of kombucha or kefir to go. The fermenter burger is easily the best veggie burger in PDX - so happy I tried them!

It is outrageous that in a place you have to stand in line to order, get your own utensils and water, bus your own table and never get checked on once, that not only is an 18percent tip automatically added to the bill, but you are still shown a tip screen requesting additional $$$.Very deceitful, since I imagine there are folks who just automatically click more, mishear or aren’t told.At the very least, remove the additional tip screen. And provide a level of service worthy of the 18percent.

Patties in both burgers were dry and uncooked, it was awful as well as the service!

Came here post bike ride for a re-fuel. It was the right choice. Yummy fermented vegan food. Tasted and felt and good. Had the kombucha and Kefir sampler! The boneless broth was warm and nutritious after a cold, wet bike ride. Plus took some broth to go for later and was delicious reheated the next day. Recommend the fries and burger as well!

We enjoyed the beet reuben, the fermenter burger, and fries. I also had an excellent apple kefir drink, and my husband had a beer. We sat in the cozy patio next to a heater with our dog on a chilly evening, so the heater was nice. The food was very good and unique, and I loved the kefir. You order at the counter inside, you get a number, and then they bring you your food. It was very busy when we were there, but they were pretty fast with getting our food to us.

I do not recommend. Food was lackluster. The miso apple burger was burnt. Kale ranch salad was boring and needed more diversity of veggies. The only good thing was the miso toast. Service is horrible and rude. You order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. The person taking our order was so apathetic, it was painful to just order food. He accidentally added an extra side, which can happen with mistakes or miscommunication. We just corrected them and sent it back. However we had to initiate to see if we were charged for it (we were) and when refunded they did not refund the automatic 18% gratuity that was added to the item. Why do we have to pay extra gratuity for an item we never ordered? Beware check receipts carefully!

An absolute Portland favorite! Fermenter always has creative specials, and their menu staples are a home run. The Fermenter burger, as well as their house made kombchas are such a treat. The staff is great, as well as the ambiance! We’re so lucky to have a place like Fermenter!
