“My mom is from Switzerland and we visit very often, I saw Swiss Hibiscus online and having never been to a Swiss restaurant in America we knew we had to try it. It absolutely blew us away, every single dish tasted as if it came straight from Switzerland and honestly tasted better than some restaurants IN Switzerland. I had somewhat low expectations coming in because every German type restaurant had disappointed me in the past but we were continuously impressed with every dish and how utterly authentic it was. We practically licked our plates clean, I cannot fully express how happy I am to have found this place and will for sure be coming back many many more times. Absolutely 10/10, I HIGHLY recommend this wonderful place.“

“Very enjoyable dining experience.Tamar was our friendly, efficient and very personable server. We enjoyed their delicious pretzel with schmaltz, (that's a no for me), mustard and obatzda. We ordered a big plate of French fries, a couple of sausages and some kraut. Everything was piping hot and well prepared.Solid! Personable, vibrant staff who know their menu and are extraordinarily helpful. The food was good. The ambience was lively and entertaining. Stammtish’s menu is limited but you can most definitely get a well prepared meal at this establishment. We started with the pretzel and enjoyed a bowl of beer cheese soup. Both palatable. Mr. Wonderful had the schnitzel, warm potato salad and shredded carrot, there wasn’t a crumb left on his plate. I ordered the Maultaschen stuffed with leeks. They were quite good! We ordered spätzle and a knackwurst to take home. The spätzle is sautéed in butter and it was good and I will be turning it into kasespätzle this evening! The beer list is decent and they are able to make recommendations to what your preferences are. We look forward to returning.“

“Been wanting to go here for awhile. Got a sausage plate and a brat sandwich. Both were great and loved the beer and atmosphere. Service was great too. Things were pretty clean and the location is cool. I bet it’s great in the summer when it’s warm as the deck looks like a nice place to chill. My one disappointment was the cheesecake. We got one to go and it was the worst thing I’ve ever tasted. They must have stored it next to some garlic or something because that is what it tasted like. For 10$ I’d expect a better. I will say it was also just plain in the to go box. No toppings included though they did offer ice cream topping for two dollars extra which I avoided since we ordered to go. Anyway, My partner and I each took one bite and threw it away.“

“If you’re a German beer lover, this is a must stop place for you. They have a great selection of German beers. What’s great about this place, is that you can get them on tap! Which in my opinion gets you a little closer to the real thing. No matter what, it will never taste the same as it does in Germany. I highly recommend the Köstritzer Schwarzlager (Black Lager) on tap. It’s like liquid bread. Well balanced dark beer, but without the heaviness of a stout. Their food menu is limited, but it’s not bad. There are several food carts to choose from in the terrace surrounding it. Prost, mein Deutsche Brüder!“

“What a hidden gem! Fressen is the coziest spot for a quick and easy brunch on a drizzly Portland day, and the pretzel bun breakfast sandwiches and decadent cream-filled Berliner donuts will make you forget all about the gloomy weather! The prices are also very reasonable and there is a good amount of seating inside. Definitely get there early if you're trying to sample some of the more popular pastries or breads...they sell out quickly and the line is often out the door, especially on the weekends. Can't wait to go back soon!“

“This is an OG Portland business going strong since 1978. If you like your cold cuts nitrate free and cut to order, then this is the place for you. Be sure to grab a number and a basket near the door before heading back to the meat counter! It's a small place, with a European feel. Bring some patience if you go on a Saturday. It takes time to slice orders, but there are also at least five or so staff to help you. Just breathe it in... literally, because it smells so good! They have delicious cheeses and breads, Milka chocolate (and other goodies), and a small selection of locally made desserts. There is a sit down area for eating the various sandwiches and sausages they offer from their deli. Cold drinks are on hand, even coke from Mexico with real sugar. Wines and beers are available as well. Do not come here if you are looking for low fat or vegan options! You have been warned. Everything I have ever tried from Edelweiss has been top notch.“

“Our son decided to take the family here, for one of the adults' birthday! This will be the first time, we've heard of this restaurant, to be honest. There were six of us eating here for the first time, ages 6-73. I call this a Tapas-style restaurant because almost everything was meant for sharing. Starting of course with a large fondue, with a steaming urn of hot melted cheese. The fondue came with a nice variety of sausages, vegetables and bread, and thinly slices of apples. Other things we shared were the Schnitzel, smoked trout, Bavarian pretzel, golden beets, and the burger Alpina which was served with fries. For desert we had the flourless chocolate cake and panna cotta. Between us we did have a glass of wine, a couple cocktails and an IPA. This is a gastro pub and the drinks menu is extensive. All of the food items were delicious and as described on the menu. Service was friendly and appropriately paced. The bathrooms are clean. Our youngest, conversed easily and both were polite to our waiter, who understands children! Bonus point for him.“
