This place is great- it’s fresh, it’s fair priced, it’s healthy, it has 4 options menu what makes it better because food is prepared daily like the ones at home. The chef is such a friendly, polite and honest person that makes you feel welcome. Also it’s local and we support small family businesses.Vegetarian options: I ordered the kale with vegetables and I really enjoyed it! Highly recommended!

Last summer, I went there with three Japanese people. I want to eat curry while shopping downtown! My friend miraculously found this restaurant on Google Maps, and I was able to enjoy the taste of Japan for the first time in a while! It was delicious. Are you a male owner? He was a very kind person, and I was able to tell him many stories. One other person and I have already returned to Japan, but the person who found this restaurant is still commuting here from Hillsboro lol.

Simple menu but great food (they have recently added quite a few new items on the menu) food is served quick and is a good price (9ish dollars), just a heads up if you are looking for a meat fix and order one of the meat dishes order a katsu topping! (in the dish itself it is for flavor, the katsu is a significant piece of meat).

Excellent authentic Japanese curry. I stopped by shortly before closing having heard that they specialize in Japanese curry and was not disappointed. I ordered the veggie curry and it was perfectly balanced (as all things should be) with warm spices, fluffy rice, and authentic pickled vegetables. Simple perfection. This is my 2nd time coming here and I absolutely love this place. The chef is extremely kind and friendly, service is great to say the least. With that being said, the curry is the star here. So simple yet so flavorful. I was so satisfied, I had a second dish all to myself! Would highly recommend!

The first bite was truly satisfying and reminded me of comfort food. the portion sizes were reasonable and left me feeling satisfied. what sets this restaurant apart is that it specializes in Japanese curry, unlike most places in Portland which curry is an afterthought.although it may not be considered extravagant, Kalé is a great choice if you're craving delicious Japanese curry. i highly recommend giving it a try.
