We LOVED this place. Knocked it out of the park. Really fun space and great food. We ordered six different plates and they were all home runs. Need to come back and try the rest.

Food was inventive, wine pour was misery and quality poor for the price. Value 3 stars at best...

I had an absolutely exquisite dining experience at L’Orange. The ambiance was inviting, the staff were exceptionally friendly, and the attention to detail was impeccable. The food, which is all locally sourced, was nothing short of incredible, each dish prepared to perfection. I was so impressed and highly recommend this culinary journey to all food lovers!

L'Orange has definitely become one of our absolute favorites in Portland after our first visit. We really liked the ambience, on the second floor of a typical Victorian house with dimmed lighting. We really liked the food, we found the menu very exciting and really enjoyed every dish. We were particularly impressed by the well-curated wine list, of course, but the small selection of beers was also very good. We wish the whole team a good start with the expansion of the lower floor! The only small suggestion we have for improvement would be that you are welcomed directly when you arrive. We had to wait a while until we were taken care of.

As with so many restaurants in the Portland area, too noisy.

What a gem! The food here is utterly amazing! Every bite was a treat to the senses. Highly recommend the onion soup and the rabbit confit crepe! The prices are quite modest as well and they have a wonderful selection of local wines. The place is small and cozy with a lovely atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

I wanted to try a new place for date night and picked a good one. The food was excellent, the service was warm. I made a reservation for the purple room which has about 4 small tables. There is another room that has more tables and a bar. The restaurant is on the second floor of a converted house. I don't think they have an elevator, so you're aware. We got mostly what the waiter recommended. The chicken liver mousse tart was savory and delicate, crust being flaky and good contrast to the vinaigretted frissee. The grilled cauliflower still had crunch and umami. I picked the duck confit which had delicious crispy crust and a slight sweet, salty sauce. My husband had the pork coppa which is a braised pork shoulder over a sauce with delicious huge beans. I thought all the food was outstanding, the presentation was great and flavors well balanced. Ended the night with an almond flour orange cake, not too sweet. I might have skipped that one because the gelee was a little tart and cake a denser than expected. The waiter was great at helping us navigate the menu. I liked all the choices available and can't wait to try more of them. I don't think there is a wrong choice here. Their menu options rotate.

My partner and I made reservations for the tasting menu experience here - it was our first time in, but will definitely not be our last! Delicious food from the welcome snacks to dessert, friendly and prompt service (great interactions with the servers and the chef!), cute and cozy atmosphere. We absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back!

Genuinely delightful. You can always tell a restaurant is truly different when the servers seem genuinely happy to be working there. Our server Erica was a wonderful person to speak with and brought a joyful disposition that I've never really experienced at a restaurant. Thank you Erica for making it a spectacular night for my partner's birthday! The food was a treat. It had been a long time since I'd scraped my plate clean for the last bits but here it was almost second nature. The recommended wine was the 'Es Okay' for what we ordered, and paired wonderfully. Independently, the wine was genuinely one of the best I'd had, so much so I bought myself a bottle online immediately after we left for a future celebration. And the place. In a beautiful location, orange wallpaper, servers used orange pens, orange glasses for water, and the space was painted a beautiful dark blue with white trim to match. It was a feast for the eyes. Genuinely, truthfully, one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant. I hate writing about how much I love it because I fear L'Orange becoming hard to reserve or too expensive, but for Erica and all the wonderful staff who made our night amazing, you deserve it. Beautiful!

Limited wine list, excellent eats. My wife enjoyed the caviar! The duck confit was delicious

My wife and I added L'Orange to our list after the article on the Oregonian. Saturday night, we figured it's busy so we tried for a walk-in right when they opened at 5 PM. No problem! It was just the ambience we were looking for. Relaxed and pretty. We had bench seating in the room to the right. Honestly, that is the only way my wife lets us sit side-by-side at a restaurant. :-) Scoured the menu. What to have... What to have... Waiter (bartender?) gives us the rundown. Small plates, medium, etc. Their take on French soup? A gobbler. Caviar with the leeks? But, of course! Oooh! This wine IS orange! Delightful! We could've gotten all the dishes to share. But we've been married for over 20 years and didn't find that to be absolutely necessary. Kim ordered the sturgeon and I ordered the duck confit. The sturgeon was fantastic and was served on a bed of ....lentils (?) and other stuff that created really good mouth feel. The duck was boneless, which saved me a bunch of time since taking the meat off the bone is sooooo exhausting. I liked the wine choices. And each of our dishes was so flavorful. if the dishes were a little on the rich side, that just meant, I probably could've shared the duck. But then... You could tell the restaurant was super modern, because none of the desserts look like they would be very good. So we left.

Truly the best restaurant in Portland right now. It rivals restaurants in France. The food is delightful, the staff is knowledgeable and kind, and the space is warm and homey. We plan to become regulars — if we can get reservations!Thank you for making fine dining accessible.
