I recently celebrated my 40th at Mermosa PDX with brunch on a Saturday with my crew of eight. The whole experience was lovely - from when we arrived, to the abundant food, to the vibes, the sweet service. We showed up in full mermaid casual mode and was met with the perfect experience. Only critique would be 'More gravy' on the biscuits and gravy but I think that's just a personal motto for life. Appreciate the warm space and will be back!Dietary restrictions: Celiac friendly!

I made a reservation for 12 for the ladies in my family to go out for a fun brunch. Mermosa did not disappoint. The DJ set list, the service, the fantastic food and cocktails made for such an amazing experience for our family. Our server rocked it! All the dishes we ordered were really good. Our favorite dishes: cornbread, grits, deviled eggs, fried chicken and the French toast. Can’t wait for another party brunch at Mermosa.

It's a vibe!! Love love love Afrobeats! The curated events there make it a special place to be especially for people of color. I enjoy it. When you are there...treat yourself to the ceviche appetizer and the bee sting cocktail! Nom nom!

The decor is a low key perfect mix of industrial and island. The beautiful blue tones and lighting will leave you feeling impressed but not intimidated. It is understated so that when your drinks and food are served, it intensely spotlights them, and the food and drinks are gorgeous! Even more so, the food and drinks are truly the star of the show here. Finally, if you do want a show there is live DJ. The whole staff is constantly going above and beyond. Definitely an Otterpop and Otterma 10/10, definitely coming back!

I went here for brunch with my mom and sister. The restaurant is beautiful and very clean. The food is AMAZING. The server we had was okay.. he seemed a bit tired and disinterested. Could be better, could be worse. Everyone else working was very friendly and lively though!

Such a great restaurant! We went for brunch and the elevated mermosas were fantastic! We were very happy with our meals, the service , the atmosphere. It was a bit loud, but we went when the dj was playing so that was expected.Overall very happy with the experience and plan on going back.

Overall this is a good place for a fun brunch. Good drinks and food. They are very busy and just like everywhere don’t have enough staff so things take a little longer. If you want a quieter brunch don’t come when the DJ is there but it is a good time if you do.Dietary restrictions: There are gluten free options

I was thoroughly pleased with our visitRestaurant was very nice. A complete vibe. Food was delicious. I need salmon bites as an entree. Server Jaz was very sweet and knowledgeable. Cannot wait to join next Sunday to try something new. The owner is also very nice and very present. Happy to have found a new place to visit!

The other reviews were right about the volume of the music (very loud) but otherwise it was amazing. It looked great, food was very tasty, and we had a flight of the elevated mimosas and would definitely recommend.

This place was… below average. Not the worst place I’ve ever eaten, but I’ve had a lot of meals out of trucks before food trucks were trending. They were out of bloody Mary’s. They were out of IPA, which was canned. The table we were at was an elevated booth that had shower curtains around it, we barely got the 6 of us into it (we’re not overly large) and they brought us brass silverware that was not quite clean. There were not enough forks for our group. The food was tolerable, not good. I had the pulled pork Benedict and split it with my girlfriend. She could barely eat it. The hollandaise was off, the “over medium” eggs were way overcooked. The cheese sauce was velveeta. Like… basically movie theatre/ baseball stadium quality nacho cheese with a dash of green onion. The okra was good, if a little salty. The salmon bites were just okay. Deviled eggs were fine, though a couple of our party weren’t fond. The chicken and waffles were a long way from what we expected from “Haitian/low country cooking”. Food was cold. Super expensive for what we got. ($25/ entree, mostly bland). The atmosphere was pretty trash. Hostess was rude, was off putting for when our group arrived, made us feel like we were inconveniencing her by asking to get the table we made a reservation for. Our waiter was alright, a nice guy. Music was super loud, it felt like being in a club 15 years ago. Napkins shoved under tables to keep them from rocking, I ate fried fish with a brass spoon, hostess was rude, food was cold, out of drinks, and gave an overall vibe of “we’ve given up” from the second we walked in. They had a DJ, and if he hadn’t made an obnoxious bridal party announcement, we wouldn’t have known since it was basically listening to the radio, except from the late 2000’s. 0% chance of going back.

Came from out of town to celebrate my friends birthday here and didn’t have the best experience. Service was horrible even when it didn’t look too busy. Waited a long time to get our food and when we finally got it, it was cold and you could tell it sat out for awhile. One of our dishes never got out to us. Never got offered any refills of our drinks and our empty plates sat at the table. Then when we were ready to go, probably waited 15+minutes for someone to cash us out. Super disappointed that we made reservations for a birthday but didn’t get a birthday experience while we noticed others that did. Offered my friend a free drink or dessert, she chose dessert and was told the kitchen staff was too busy to make it. Overall not the best.

The tomato soup is Campbell's soup with a splash of cream thrown in. The "mornay sauce" is milk and melted American cheese. Don't walk into the kitchen, much less the walk-in cooler if you want to keep your lunch down. Despite having gloves in abundance, no one uses them. I've called the health department in these guys multiple times however they never get shut down. Ostensibly it's because the owners have stupid money. I'd rather eat at Popeyes.
