Imposing building, the food was served lukewarm and they could not handle criticism well. Both the staff and the owner even argued to get their point across and justify the mistakes of their inadequate kitchen.

WOW! This was a pleasant surprise. My partner and I have had a few disappointing experiences at restaurants in the area within the same price range. This has restored our faith in the Portland food scene.Everything was delicious! Salad too. Don't skimp on the salad!

Here’s what we ordered:Normandie board was so underwhelming but the chicken liver mousse was good. The bread that it was served with was good as well. They only gave one set of meat and then a spicy meat spread. I can’t remember the name but think of like a spicy chorizo spread. Not a fan as I’m not crazy about spice and neither were two of the other people I went with so that was a waste. I wouldn’t recommend the board since I didn’t find it worth the money or anything better that I could do I hope. I would order the mousse separately though. That I enjoyed.Poached prawns was really good. I would have ordered a second. Flavor and texture paired together wonderfully.Deviled eggs- wasn’t something that I would order again. There was something mixed in the egg that I wasn’t loving but it’s a good try once kinda thing.Broiled oysters tasted fine, nothing special that I would order it over regular oysters. Beef carpaccio was good and would order again.Octopus, ugh the smallest piece of octopus and overpriced. Of course in photos it looks bigger but it’s not worth it.Chicory salad basically tastes like a crunchy Caesar and I thought it was good. The crunch was great. The sauce was too thick and creamy for my liking, as if you’re eating mayo out the jar and I like mayo. Just not big chunks of it.Service also was super slow. We got the Normandie board at the end. We thought they forgot it but when it came out I almost wished they did cause it wasn’t worth it.

Cold interior. Went for a special occasion, prefixed menu. Not good. For the price it’s frustrating to leave hungry.

I had a lovely experience at Normadie. I had the Chicories salad and Gnocchi… the salad was absolutely delicious, the Gnocchi was yummy, however my personal preference is Italian classic potato gnocchi. I had never had the French Parisienne made with choux pastry, for me it lacked flavor but the texture was nice, light and fluffy. And the short rib Ragu was tangy and tasty. The meal hit all taste buds.

Good food, average experience. For the price, the service and experience could be much better and more memorable. Waitress was dressed in normal street clothes. Didn’t feel very sanitary or professional. Wine list is lacking, all very similar selections. Good food portions, fresh and good flavor.

I recommend ordering a selection of plates to share and letting them course it out for you. The ham and cheese tartine (which I imagine gets reinvented frequently) was the star of the meal. They take service seriously. We felt taken care of from the second we were sat. Highly recommend for a special meal!

The food was excellent. Get a reservation it can get busy. Also good desserts. They don’t take themselves too seriously they have Ranier and pony miller bottles too. I appreciate that.

I'll start off by saying that the staff is lovely, and the cocktails are both fantastic & decently pricedI had the grilled octopus, roasted squash, and lemongrass creme brulee. The two main dishes were very salty. Mostly from the sauces that came with them. The octopus sauce was also unexpectedly sweet as well. They were served with potatoes that were JoJo level fried. The roasted squash, was also fried. When I asked one of the staff about it, he said, "oh yes, it's roasted.. And then we deep fry it.". I wish that heaven mentioned on the menu, because I would not have ordered it if I'd known.I asked for a side of bread and butter, thinking that would be something of a palate cleanser. It comes as a beautifully a presented Baguette with butter, and yet also seemed somehow fried, and the butter too salty. For dessert I ordered the lemongrass creme brulee. It was serviceable. Lovely burnt sugar on top, and pickled mandarin orange slices for garnish. But the body of it was heavier then I normally think of creme brulee. And the menu said it had a Thai chili/ ginger component, which I did not taste it all.Overall, kind of disappointing. I went in expecting fresh tasting, slightly inventive dishes. What I found was too salty, and sweet, with an over reliance of fried items.

My sister and I were in Portland for vacation and we wanted to make some dinner reservations. When we made reservations for another restaurant we later then learned that it was actually set for Monday when we were leaving Sunday. To cut this review quickly Normandie was able to get us a quick reservation on a Saturday night when most places were full until 9:45! They definitely did not disappoint and everything was so satisfying. If you're wanting to try something VERY different yet delicious pls order the octopus :))

The seafood was just outstanding, and that's compared to a city with a number of really good seafood restaurants. The restaurant was lively and hopping but never in a way that because noisy or distracting. Service friendly, prompt, and efficient. Cool decor. And I'll repeat, just really darned good food, clearly high quality sourced ingredients and cooked brilliantly. A great place to take out of towners to see what Portland food can do. Go go go!

Had a fantastic dinner last night at Normandie. After being on the road for 2 weeks in the Pacific Northwest, this was our best meal of the entire trip. Really friendly service and the drinks were great. The menu has a selection of lots of small plates that all sounded delicious - it was hard to decide on just a few! We started with the Duck Confit Toast which was out of this world. Followed that with the Charred Spanish Octopus, Roasted Beet Salad, and the Roasted Squash. All flavors were fresh and incredible. Highly recommend Normandie. Next time we're in Portland, we're heading there again. Thanks for the wonderful meal!

Delicious food in this popular French restaurant. The Duck Confit Toast (Fromage D'affinois, Huckleberry Jam, Arugula, Pickled Shallots, Pink Peppercorn, Nasturium) was deliciousness on a baguette. Highly recommended. And it goes very well with the Sunriver Rippin Pale Ale if you feel like having beer instead of wine. One more thing, the main entry door is truly heavy, so push hard. Bon appétit!
