Food was great, service was okay, ambience was terrible. We were taken through a narrow hallway past the kitchen and bathroom and into a small room in the back. We were seated right next to a large opening in the wall looking into an adjacent room where dishes were being washed. The clanking of dishes was very loud. We asked to be moved to the next table over. There was a group seated next to us in the room and they were so loud that between them and the clanking dishes, we had to practically yell to hear each other. We left without getting dessert because we couldn't take the volume. When we passed through the main dining area, that room was much quieter than the one we'd just left, despite having many more diners.

This is one of my favorite Latin flare restaurants in Portland. They have both small and large plates, small being more like tapas style. Everything is delicious and unique yet familiar. We had one of the mole dishes last time and it was outstanding. Their ceviche is so good and fresh. They have a great bar selection with quite a few interesting cocktails. The flan!! Oh my! The service is friendly and attentive. The restaurant feels very homey and warm with a touch of elegance. I highly recommend Nuestra Cocina!
