This is a Vietnamese restaurant though get discriminated by your own people. Called in an hour earlier to order ahead for Ca Nuong which is their well-known dish. Informed the guy in front desk with the reservation. We got seated and 30 mins later, no one greeted us so we decided to ask. We got completely ignored though all the races than Vietnamese are welcomed right away. The server kept throwing the dishes loudly on the table and walked away without saying anything. We had kids so we didn't want to leave to go to another restaurant during busy hours. The type of service here is so wrong on many levels. We understand that you guys are busy but please inform the customers.

Their pho is so good I've come multiple times to eat alone. The atmosphere is wonderful and full of beautiful plants. Service has always been quick. What's not to love, definitely a must go!

Wonderful staff, food, & atmosphere. Great for small groups. They have larger tables for gatherings, but I haven't tried to get a large table during their busiest times.

Pretty okay. The beef pho was fairly bland. It feels like they just stewed their beef but not a lot of bones or cartilage. The soup was very thin and had no body. The fragrance of the soup was also lacking. It tasted and smelled like just bare bones stewed beef soup. There's hardly any thickness to this broth it's like they barely used any gelatinous bits at all.A hint of coriander, fish sauce, rock sugar, a touch of black cardamom. There's no cinnamon, no umami from dried shrimp. It really just feels like bare bones pho. For $20+ I would rather get ramen because the broth takes more work. Pho is such a simple straightforward recipe that for this price it feels like you're being taken for a ride.Coming from Garden Grove, Orange County this pho is very lacking. Especially for $20 a bowl. If you went home and made your own pho with a basic recipe, this is what it would taste like

Try the Banh Xeo, it's huge and delicious! The interior is full of beautiful plants. It's a really nice space to have dinner. They've got a great selection of authentic Vietnamese cuisine. You can grab a beer or a cocktail as well. Great spot on 82nd!

Pho Van is a regular stop for me when visiting a friend in the area and I wish I lived closer. Their food is so good and they have lots of great options. Last night I got the duck and bamboo with rice noodle soup, I will be getting it again, it was delicious! The bamboo was soft with a subtle bite but not stringy like it can often be, the duck came cooked in strips on a pile of cabbage and peanuts with a light sauce. The food arrives pretty quickly and portions are perfect. Servers are nice and generally speedy, there is lots of seating but usually a small wait on weekends (less than 5 min).

It's rare to find a good Vietnamese place that puts a lot of effort into ambiance & decor, so I was a bit nervous at how nice the place looked. However, the food & service were both great! At first glance at the menu, I was pleasantly surprised to see labels for things that contained gluten & items that were vegan. My partner and I almost always have to ask about gluten free options at Vietnamese places because dietary restrictions are so uncommon in a lot of Asian cultures. It was nice that my partner could order most of the menu, as only a few things contained gluten. We ordered the veggie crispy rolls to share, then I had the pho chay (vegan pho) & he got the mi quang. The food came out without too much wait and the staff were very friendly. The pho itself was delicious! I appreciated the effort put into having a flavorful veggie broth as well as two types of tofu in the bowl. Many restaurants have given me bland broth with raw tofu cubes before. The crispy rolls were also one of the best things I've eaten in PDX! I can't speak to my partner's dish, but he seemed to enjoy it and it was nice to see something different on the menu when so many Vietnamese restaurants stick to pho, banh mi, & bun bo hue. Yes, the price is about $5 more than I usually pay for pho, but given the quality, effort, & portions, I didn't feel ripped off at all! We paid $44 for two entrees and an appetizer, with leftovers to take home. I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the menu & the desserts!

My favorite place in the last 6 years for a wonderful bowl of Pho. I usually get the 9 - 12 because I am not a tripe or tendon fan but I also love the 36A Char grilled short ribs with rice or the 41 or 51 which is the char grilled chicken with either rice or vermicelli. I visit frequently for a takeout bowl, especially when I'm feeling undertone weather, but was here recently with my parents and other family to celebrate a birthday. Some people have said their service is hit or miss but they have been so kind to us on a regular basis that I question if the lower reviews were on an off moment. They are there to conduct business but when they have time, everyone is kind and welcoming. My Dad has learned to speak some Vietnamese over the years and they get a kick out of speaking with him and it means the world to my Dad. They have been so kind to him and even helped him with some words. I've tried MANY places over the years and this is still my favorite. My only critique is that I do not like the fresh rolls as they are bland. I'd rather get the ones from a Thai place uo the road. BUT they are exceptional at what they do.
