Great store. No pliers or vice grips.

This location is an f'ing war zone, and the staff does a terrific job of keeping it under control.

Typical subpar baked goods, and disgusting cakes.

This location is 3 blocks away from my house and by far my favorite Safeway location. They have lots of parking (all inside) and there are a lot of food items I can get here that I can't get anywhere else. They have a good self checkout and fast credit card readers. This location is worth going to

GOING TO SAFEWAY TODAY, If you want to get mudered, or catch COVID-19, THIS IS the Saeway to go to. I just saw a man walking around the store with a large machete hanging from his belt, and he was not wearing a mask. I immediately went to the security guard, who carries a taser gun and pepper spray (like police), because I was completely Shook by what I just saw. His response was corporate tells us not to get involved with the customers. DO I NEED TO REMIND PEOPLE ABOUT THE STABBINGS ON MAX. Here is the link if you forgot. After this, another 2 employees approached me about the same problem I saw, but were afraid of losing there jobs at a time like this when having ANY job is gold. They were scared, but can't do anything due to the corporate office washing their hands of any problems in it's own store, and telling employees to do the same. THEN WHAT IS SECURITY THERE FOR, a false sense of security??? I have NEVER seen anything like this. Crazy, drunk, high, mentally ill....doesn't bother me. We ARE downtown, I get that. However, THIS WAS AN OPEN CARRIED MACHETE INSIDE THE STORE!!! I work at the Broadway branch, but shop at the Love Joy one because it's across the street from where I live. The Broadway Safeway DOESN'T play that s*** at all. THEY WILL GIVE YOU THE BOOT, and 86 you from the store. If they have to they WILL call the police to remove you before you become a problem to other shoppers. So, I am completely befuddled as to why the Safeway on LOVE JOY CAN'T do the same thing. The police are always around. IT'S DOWNTOWN PORTLAND. SAFEWAY, you need to keep your patrons, and employees safe. It's not only the human thing to do, but it prevents the store from being sued if a patron is assaulted, or MURDERED in their store. Aside from this, the store is poorly stocked, the deli looks a mess, and the self check-out machines are garbage. Some of them take change, some don't, the scanners break causing long lines, and there is usually a bag shortage (not everyone brings a bag). These are ALL things I have not seen to be a problem at the Broadway Safeway, but that's just me. Be safe, stay healthy, and IF YOU SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING. Aaliyah ;-)

First off, I just want to say thank you for all for still being here for all of us to be able to get groceries during this time. We appreciate all of you so much. This has been my store since moving to Portland in Sept last year. It's within walking distance to my apt, it's always clean, stocked and has the BEST workers. Fresh produce, stocked shelves, great selections of everything, fair pricing.

Maybe it's because I've come from the Midwest, but an elevator into the store? Automatic star, so cool lol. The store itself doesn't have much selection, but it's good enough for now. My main issue comes with the delivery service. Amazing service to have and so convenient! What isn't convenient is not being informed my order wouldn't be able to be delivered until an hour before the 1-hr delivery window. A call earlier in the day would've been appreciated so that I could arrange to do the shopping myself.

Security on site. Store is nice and clean. Encounter great customer service from employees. I purchased salmon with a salad for back to my room and was sooooo disappointed on how hard the salmon was. Ruined my dinner. Got a good bottle of wine to drink.

You'd think this would be a better location to shop because of the area but I've yet to see it. Yesterday 08/06/20 @5:15pm I video'ed this racist lunatic start creeping closer to this Latino gentleman and his young son while waiting to check out. She immediately started screaming at him after going into HIS space and said he was encroaching on her and subsequently started physically pushing him until the security came by who did NOTHING. There were even 3/4 customers enraged that they saw this racist Karen freaking out and assaulting this man that did nothing except be brown. They allowed her to go on about her business and gave her exactly what she wanted: the satisfaction of security doing her racist bidding- known or unknown to them. I'm sick and tired of seeing racist trash around and these mangers and security type positions allow this hate to flourish. I expected more from Portland and especially the pearl district to be more about inclusivity and not encouraging it.Long story short, Karen began fake crying when none of her payments were going through and I believe they voided it and let her leave without paying- at which point I asked the manager on my way out if they were going to do anything or need the video showing her assault the guy in front of his kid. He said he didn't need it and gave no further information- my guess is because Karen was talking to him and even tried apologizing to me which I scoffed at and told her to apologize to the traumatized kid and his father. Sad when they are more concerned with me recording, rather than the well-being of people shopping in their blasted stores. It's ridiculous and I won't be coming back and I encourage anyone else to do the same. Racism need to end!

Impossible to get into the store without walking over the homeless. Store management doesn't do anything about it.

never been to a Safeway before (I'm from the East Coast). I was blown away by the choices, and the onsite tap room, where I had lunch.

We are grateful to Jed in the meat department for saving our Christmas dinner. We placed an order for lamb shanks, but the store never received the shipment. Jed worked with us to find a solution, even offering us a nicer cut than we'd asked for. In the end, he comped us enough lamb leg to feed 10, saving us both money and heartache. Thanks, Jed--we'll be back.

On my lunch break I decided to go to Safeway to get some Chinese food. I dished my self up and then went to the deli checkout register. I waited for a few minutes before I asked if someone could ring me up. One lady asked Stephanie to come over and do it. She not once spoke to me and acted like I was inconveniencing her and asking her to do something ridiculous. She threw my food around, huffed and puffed and rolled her eyes. When the purchase was finished I asked if I could please have a fork and she grabbed one (huffing and puffing) stared at my like I was d*** while giving it to me. Management needs to work with her so this doesn't happen again!

Store is clean with a good selection of fresh organic produce. My only frustration is with the pharmacy. All the pharmacists are very friendly- but the waiting line situation is confusing with the two counters and only usually one one pharmacist working both counters, and it causes people to get cut in front of. They need to put up a "form one line" sign so the person waiting the longest is helped first.
