I tried this place, and found the atmosphere more enjoyable than Prost. But the cuisine wasn’t much better and come to find out it’s owned by the same owner. Nonetheless it’s got a lot of German beer to select from and the food will satisfy your German food hankerings.

German food can be enjoyable and this is a fun place to get some good dishes of that country. They have unique sides to go with the meal but all are well-made, I'd recommend either the fries or the spatzle especially. Feel free to ask any questions you have about the menu because the staff will be friendly and happy to answer any. Their menu is diverse, and you can try things from pretzels to German soup to different meats. Some dishes can be on the spendy side, but serving sizes are fair. The establishment is loud and casual but clean and still classy at the same time.

A fun and authentic German restaurant with a great selection of German beer. Had several items on the happy hour menu including the schnitzel, that was really good. So good that we had to order more of it. Super friendly staff with quick service. The place was packed on a weeknight so that's always a great sign that this is a neighborhood favorite. I want to go back and try a few more things in the menu.Vegetarian options: German restaurants aren't known for being vegetarianDietary restrictions: Just let them knowParking: Classic narrow Portland streets with limited parkingKid-friendliness: YesWheelchair accessibility: Yes

The food here is absolutely fantastic! Each dish was seasoned well and cooked perfectly! My husband had the Rinderbraten and I had the Wienerschnitzel and both were excellent. We had the chocolate mouse for dessert, which came with pistachios and fruit on top. So well balanced, not too sweet and very creamy. The beer choices are amazing and the wait staff did a very nice job. We will certainly be back again! Thank you for a lovely experience.

One of our favorite spots in Portland. Stammtich means 'regular table' with the catchphrase "Here are the ones who always sit here" and you really feel that in the atmosphere, patrons and staff. If you are looking for a local place with a cozy, familiar feel, which specializes in German cuisine and beer, you will quickly become a Stammtich regular. Prost!

Highly recommend this place. I'm an absolute sucker for anything that has the mushroom gravy on it.All of the sausages are absolutely delicious, but my favorite is by far going to be the knackwurst.Seriously a great place to go with a couple of friends, have a few delicious German beers, a currywurst or two and have a great time.

Great cocktails and beer options. Good food. Take extra care with communication. I ordered the chicken, which comes with a warning regarding cooking time. Consulted with my partner, said let's do it, then asked the server for appetizer recs while we waited. We settled on just an order of fries. She said, "just the fries then?" Thinking she meant as an appetizer, we stupidly said yes. An hour and a half later, without being asked if we wanted more food, we asked about the chicken. The order wasn't put in because we had apparently agreed "just the fries." I own that. My mistake. But why let us sit for an hour and a half without asking if we wanted anything else to eat? This was our second visit. No issues with the first. May not be able to show our faces there again though. ??

It was good. I had several excellent bites and was overall satisfied. But it could be improved in many simple ways. For example, you generally expect the server to check in during the meal; ours did not. Another reviewer complained of the same.My food came out just warm on a cold plate, which quickly turned cold. Use hot plates to keep the food at temperature. The rabbit was dry, though I appreciate that rabbit dries easily. I've had drier meat, but I've definitely had moister too. Finally, my dish was unevenly seasoned. Some components were good but others badly lacked salt.

Great German food & beer. One of few places in Portland that always has at least one Dunkelweizen (dark wheat beer) on tap.

It is a fairly small establishment which is probably why there was a longer wait time to get a seat. Staff were very friendly but getting refills or check-ins did not occur. Happy hour prices are a little high for the quantity but there are plenty of good food options to choose from. Would go back for the food.

Very enjoyable dining experience.Tamar was our friendly, efficient and very personable server. We enjoyed their delicious pretzel with schmaltz, (that's a no for me), mustard and obatzda. We ordered a big plate of French fries, a couple of sausages and some kraut. Everything was piping hot and well prepared.Solid! Personable, vibrant staff who know their menu and are extraordinarily helpful. The food was good. The ambience was lively and entertaining. Stammtish’s menu is limited but you can most definitely get a well prepared meal at this establishment. We started with the pretzel and enjoyed a bowl of beer cheese soup. Both palatable. Mr. Wonderful had the schnitzel, warm potato salad and shredded carrot, there wasn’t a crumb left on his plate. I ordered the Maultaschen stuffed with leeks. They were quite good! We ordered spätzle and a knackwurst to take home. The spätzle is sautéed in butter and it was good and I will be turning it into kasespätzle this evening! The beer list is decent and they are able to make recommendations to what your preferences are. We look forward to returning.
