Not sure why this place has so many good reviews. The two tamales that we ordered on a plate were really bland and wet. Unseasoned veggies. Bland salsas. The Frito was very delicious with great beans and eggs. But the tamales themselves were bit authentic tasting at all. Also you are expected to tip even though you have to bus your own table. ?‍♀️Also you have to bus your own tableVegetarian options: Bland

I have regularly ordered take out from Tamale Boy for the last year because the food was always fresh, unique, and delicious. However, the last 3 months the food quality has completely tanked. 2 months ago I was delivered a flan covered in moldy sweetened and condensed milk. My last 6 orders the food has been progressively worse. The food is now old, bland, and inconsistently flavored. The rice is soggy and overcooked, basically just a rice porridge. The burrito bowls, tamales, and brussel sprouts are drowning in oil and have no flavor anymore. The meat is 50% inedible chunks of fat. This was one of my go-to restaurants and now the thought of it makes me nauseous. I really hope the owner fixes this, because this is really disappointing.Dietary restrictions: Several gluten free options

Super delicious! It's and order at the counter spot, with only outdoor seating, but walled in and plenty of heaters to keep warm on the chilly days. Restrooms are available, as well.I had the chilaquiles and it did not disappoint. The salsa that came with the chips and salsa was also bomb. This will definitely be a place on my normal rotation from now on.Dietary restrictions: They had all their gluten free dishes labeled.

Good food but I don't want to eat outside unless it's summer time. Best for to go orders.

Tamale Boy has been a place I've been eyeing for years now but just haven't gotten the chance to trying out yet and I am happy (or sad?) to report that I have been missing out and I regret not going here earlier!I ordered a pickup order through their website which worked well, with my only feedback being that they should add descriptions of each item within Clover as I had to go back and fourth between the menu and the online ordering interface. I got two tamales and both of them were absolutely amazing. I haven't had tamales this good in my life and I'm so happy I found another amazing restaurant I will be coming back to. I highly recommend Tamale Boy, 10/10!

We ordered the queso not seeing it came with meat. The queso got delivered and we there was meat on it. We said to the lady we don't eat meat and if we could get it without meat. She said yes and took the queso with meat back. Then she brought us our queso which was supposed to have no meat, and toward the end of our meal we meat still in it! Did you just try to scoop put the meat I'm the original queso? This was the most lack of care I've seen in a long time for a vegetarian in Portland. I am from this city too. I will never be back to Tamale Boy. You are lying by saying there was no meat in queso that was brought the 2nd time. I assure you there was still chorizo in! And calling me a liar? So we both imagined the chorizo the 2nd time? Okay..... careful writing honest reviews for this place because the owner who I never met is calling this a lie. Beautiful. Wish you luck!

More of Outdoor Bar than we thought it would be. Which we liked. Lots of people were there to party. The food was fine. Some nights the outdoor area is full - Other nights it is practically empty.

Cant say much about the atmosphere because the food was to go but place seems to be very nice, got the Quesadilla with asada and it was delicious and very filling so I will be trying their other foods soon.

Loved the food here! I had the fish tacos which were delicious and family members had the tamales, which they enjoyed. The guac was tasty and fresh. Will return here next time I'm in PDX.
