It's too bad The Lamp essentially went out of business during the COVID shutdown, and is unlikely to return to the cool neighborhood bar that it used to be. Luckily, the Aladdin Theater took over the space so at least you can still hang out and have a drink while waiting for the show next door to open. Beats waiting outside in the rain.

I didn't want to write a review- tried finding a contact email, but couldn't. I live in the neighborhood, come to The Lamp at least once a month, love their food, staff is nice, etc. BUT, on show nights, they raise the prices of everything by about $2.00, which is a terrible business decision. My partner and I went to a show at Mississippi Studios last night, where drinks and food remain the same price, because, like the Lamp, some people come for the show, some don't. The Lamp's policy of raising prices on show nights turns away locals-not only on show nights, but for fear that it might be a show night. Come to think of it, no other venue/restaurant I know of in Portland raises their prices on show nights. C'mon Lamp, be smart! Love thy neighbor, and we'll love you back!
