The flavors will delight you. If you can't snag one of rooftop tables, be sure to grab an indoor seat by the windows. The 180 degree patio view spans all the way from Union Station and wraps around to Big Pink. Drinks are delicious as well. Get a couple dishes and enjoy family style.

Tope is a fantastic rooftop restaurant at the top of The Hoxton Hotel just inside Chinatown in Portland. Admittedly, we came to go to Lovely Rita's, but when we arrived, it was closed, and so up to the roof we went. I'd call the food elevated Mexican. This is not the place for a bean and cheese burrito. Everything we had was delicious and quite unique. The presentations were certainly not typical. My al pastor was served as a full porkchop, sliced and covered in a slightly spicy pineapple salsa. It was tender and amazing. My pal got the carne asada which was served like a steak but sliced. It was also incredible. Mini chirros with dolce de leche dipping sauce were served warm. The cocktails were great and the chips, salsa and guacamole were so flavorful. The rooftop was lovely, and our waiter was also great, until we wanted to have our alcohol on a separate ticket because we were on a work trip and would be reimbursed for the meal only. He eventually relented but originally refused to do it. It was not super busy, there were only 2 of us, we'd had twoentries, and appetizer, ordered dessert and three adult beverages. It didn't seem like an unreasonable request. It its policy, it should have been posted somewhere. Overall it was a great experience and I'd definitely go again but that end of meal struggle was unpleasant for sure.

Wonderful and unique food, great atmosphere, lovely space and view. It was a beautiful day, but a little chilly in the eve sitting on the roof. They offered us big awesome blankets. We have a variety of dietary restrictions and were able to still order super delicious food for everyone.

ORDER THE CHURROS!!! They’re so good.Atmosphere was great. We had drinks at the bar first and the bartender was awesome. We then got seated outside at the amazing rooftop - so lovely. Only complaint is we ordered empanadas and we had to ask for silverware 3 times before we received it, and by the time we did they were cold.

Birria Torta was absolutely amazing! The rooftop vibes and views were stunning. The place is a bit on the pricy side but definitely worth a try!

My experience at Tope was fantastic! The mango drinks were absolutely delicious, refreshing, and bursting with flavor. The pozole was also excellent, with rich and savory broth complemented by tender meat and fresh toppings. The vibrant atmosphere and stunning views from the rooftop added to the enjoyment of the meal. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience, and I can't wait to go back for more of those tasty mango drinks and pozole.

After defusing a rather explosive situation in Guadalajara, we found ourselves needing a moment of respite. Intel had pointed me towards "Tope," a local tequila bar with whispers of unparalleled selection and potent libations. Now, we are not easily impressed, but must admit, this place was a revelation. Dimly lit with the allure of somewhere new, but familiar, the bar itself was a warm and polished modern industrial beauty, lined with hundreds of glass bottles, each holding a potential fiery adventure. The air thrummed with the low murmur of conversation and the rhythmic stylings of Marc Anthony weaving a melancholic melody that spoke of agave fields and sun-baked afternoons. Naturally, we opted for a classic mezcal beverage. The bartender, Jaren, a wizened soul with eyes that had seen more sunsets than tequila shots, prepared it with reverence, using a reposado aged to perfection, leaving a smooth warmth on the palate that lingered long after the last sip. The lime was tart, the agave nectar sweet, and the balance, it must be said, was absolutely shaken, not stirred. As we savoured our drinks, we couldn't help but notice the clientele. Not your usual tourist traps, this lot. Seasoned travelers with knowing smiles, locals with a glint of enthusiasm in their eyes, and one rather attractive woman in a denim jacket who kept giving me a look that could melt an m & m in your hand. Intriguing, to say the least. "Tope" isn't just a tequila bar, it's an experience. A place where secrets are whispered over smoky mezcals, deals are struck over aged añejos, and danger can lurk around every corner, just like a well-made Paloma. In the world of espionage, reliable intel is key, and I can confidently say this establishment deserves a top rating. Just remember, if you find yourself there, keep your wits about you and your eyes peeled. You never know who you might meet, or what adventure awaits your next shot.

Celebrated my birthday here last night. This was my second time coming here. From the atmosphere to the service to the food, everything here is a 10/10! Our server was kind and in such an uplifting mood it made my night that much more special. They celebrated me with a birthday shot which was so sweet. We ordered a spicy and regular margarita. Both so tasty. Be mindful the spicy margarita does have some kick to it which I personally love. The chicharrones were cooked to a perfect crisp and had a lemony salt taste that balanced so well with the guac on the side. Our entrees were the pollo Pibil dish and the carne asada special. Both were tasty and well worth it. I would take a look at the menu before hand because it is a smaller menu and you want to be sure you will find something to your liking. Overall I recommend this cute spot that offers a beautiful rooftop view.

We were told by a server at a bad breakfast experience earlier in the day that we had to experience Tope while we were in Portland and that it would restore our faith in Portland cuisine. What an amazing experience we had! The atmosphere is stunning and the sweeping views, even on a cloudy day, are spectacular. Our server, Cody E, is such a nice guy. He not only made great suggestions on the food and drink options, but he also helped us to discover places we should go to get in on the Portland night life scene. Next time we visit will be when it's warm enough to enjoy the outdoor seating on the roof top. I also need to mention Derek. He greeted us as we were seated and helped out through out our dining experience. Another super nice guy. We had many wonderful snacks but the Scallop Special is something we will never forget. Thanks Tope! We love you and will see you again the next time we're down from Tacoma. Love, Rangie
