We dined on the sea scallops & ravioli & their bread platter with 4 different breads, all made in house! They even import Italian yeast & flour to make their pasta & breads.Wheelchair accessibility: All at street level.

Be careful about the reservation system used by this business. Even though we had proof from the reservation system they seem not to care or offer a later time.

I love this place. My husband and I come here every Sunday and we look forward to it every week. The food is amazing, staff is very friendly, and the it’s a nice place for a quiet romantic dinner.

Went for the first time tonight with my dad. We shared the bread and olives, and a simple salad, and I got a dish with spaghetti and seafood. I couldn’t finish it as the clams and mussels had sand in them (which is a texture I just can’t tolerate), the shrimp was severely overcooked and tough, the pasta itself was bland and lacking much flavor, and there was something hard (maybe shell?) that I couldn’t see but kept biting into. Paying $22 on such a mediocre dish is a shame in a city like Portland. Won’t be coming back. Our waiter was nice and attentive but while I was pouring parm on my pasta someone on the staff told me that was a sin in Italy and never to do it there. I say it’s a sin to serve shrimp that was firmer than the pasta it was served atop.

I've been going to Gallo Nero for years because my wife likes the food. It isn't to my taste, but it's not bad.Last weekend, we went with neighbors. My wife called ahead for a table for 4 in a quiet location. We arrived, and the table had a cold draft, and we were all chilled. We asked if the heat could be turned up a little and if the drape next to but not covering an unused door, where the draft was coming from, could be drawn part-way. The manager said we were lucky to have the table, and this was a restaurant. He walked away arrogantly. My wife and friends wanted to ignore him, and we continued our meal with sweaters. The server was very nice, and the food was okay. I will NEVER go back.

This has to be the best Italian restaurant in Portland. Authentic, delicious food and professional, friendly service in an upscale yet unpretentious environment. Lasagna is amazing.

Wanted to share some feedback on the food. Owner was not there unfortunately. While it's fresh and the homemade pasta is wonderful the portions are really small. The lemon custard tart is not very lemony. I liked that the sweetness is mild. One of the things I wish more Italian restaurants would serve is a traditional homemade chicken soup with Asini de Pepe or the egg drop soup my nonna used to make for us in Chicago. She owned her own restaurant called, you guessed it momma's. She slow boiled a whole chicken all day to make a delicate broth. Miss nonna much.

Great meal here with our 7 year old who was the only kid in the whole place while we were there. Food was very good particularly the pasta dishes. Service was lovely, helpful and kind but not at all pretentious. Prices were so reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food and drinks. Very satisfying meal. We’ll return on another trip to Portland.

Freezing cold! But, don't ask them to turn down the AC. The surly waiter will say, "What? Do you want me to sweat??" We put on coats and sweaters. Rude, very rude.

Celebrated with a nice dinner here. Mitch, our server was a delight. Loved that there were Italians eating there too. You know it's going to be good! And it was! One of the best Italian meals I've ever had.
