Portland is so lucky to have a joint like Yaowarat. Some of the best tofu I have ever had. Space is absolutely stunning. Thank you Chef Earl and team!

The bar is cute & the food was good. It came out, however, almost immediately- meaning it was all premade which felt a little fast-food. Prices are not fast food, however.

I live nearby and was excited to see this place open up. The decor and vibe are great but honestly I was let down by the food. I got the Kuay Teow Kua Gai and it was big bland fried noodle on a bed of lettuce, with a mostly raw egg. I expected something more flavorful, exotic, unusual. It was fine, but I wouldn't order it again. The Celtuce salad was good.

The service is amazing, waitress kept refilling my water and glass of Diet Coke so I wouldn’t have to lift a finger. Elaborately dressed staff and beautifully plated dishes. This is a perfect date night spot!

Good vibes, great cocktails, and delicious food—what more can you ask for? The prices are also pretty reasonable, although you will need to order a few plates to get “full.” Unsurprisingly, it’s a popular place so expect to wait 30 mins to an hour if you don’t get here early. In any case, we will definitely be adding this to our list of frequent Portland nighttime spots for snack and drinks.

A very enjoyable restaurant for dinner. I would rate the food An "A" and the drinks an A-. The chive cakes were delicious. I was tempted to order this appetizer a second time. The squid appetizer was good. The spicy pickled cabbage salad was okay. The roast duck entree was very good. The Chinese black olive pork was good, but beware of the hot spices. For drinks, ask for the Appleton Signature as a cocktail. It was a very refreshing rum drink. The Pai Teeo was also excellent. Overall Yaowarat is wonderful for people who like to experience different flavors throughout their meal. If there are only two people in your party, I would request to sit on the chairs facing the kitchen.

Went here on a cold, rainy Monday night in early March and could not have been more delighted with my experience. From the décor, to the drinks, to the food, to the service, every note sung. Best meal I have had in recent memory! As others have stated, the decorations and ambiance are moody and fun. Although I've never been to Yaowarat Road in Bangkok, it does a good job of transporting you away from Portland and depositing you right there. For drinks, my date and I each got a cocktail to start, which were cocktail-bar quality. Later we each got a Singha with dinner, which paired well with the food. I saw the table over order a beer tower, which was fun-- I don't think I've seen those outside of Asia before, let alone in Portland! Food-wise, every dish hit. I had read up on reviews and ordered things that were recommended... does this prove food critics DO actually know what they're talking about?? Hmm. We started with the chive cakes (amazing, favorite dish for both of us) and pickled cabbage salad (great as a palate cleanser, snacked on this between bites throughout the meal). For mains we got the Chinese black olive pork (unique, delicious) and the famous Kuay Teow Kua Gai (simple yet delectable). Note-- the noodles in Kuay Teow Kua Gai are not your typical noods; they reminded me more of spaetzle. The cherry on top was our fun and friendly server. She mirrored our energy all night and her company was a lovely compliment to our meal. It's not often that happens these days! Thanks for a wonderful meal and amazing experience.

Just delicious food. Our group of 5 ordered multiple menu items and everything was great. Service was friendly. I recommend checking this place out.

Wow. Wow. Wow. If I could give more stars, I would. The food was INCREDIBLE, incredibly gluten friendly. And on top of that, it was so affordable for the quality!! Highly recommend.

It’s rare that I go to a restaurant and find everything to be perfect, but I found it here! Truly they have earned every positive review and 5-stars they have been given. The staff was kind and attentive, the decor was beautiful, and the food was exceptional. We were particularly impressed with the chive cakes and mapo tofu… but it’s hard to say because every dish was outstanding.

Outstanding restaurant. Impressive addition to Portland's many offerings of fine Thai food. The kuay teow kua gai (fried rice noodles with chicken and pork fat) was delicious and truly memorable, a dish we'll be sure to order again. The same goes for the mapo tofu (ground beef and pork with melt-in-the-mouth egg tofu pleasantly spiced with szechuan peppercorns). Another winner, and both dishes ones we can't find elsewhere in town. Like other patrons, we were also upsold the wok-fried greens, which were perfectly prepared and which we really enjoyed. Our only disappointment was our choice of appetizer, the Yaowarat road squid, a small bowl of tiny slivers of squid in spicy fish sauce. Hardly worth the price. Pleasant service and lovely ambience. We arrived at 5:00 and within forty minutes the restaurant was full. We'll be back.

Gem of a restaurant. Where to start? I lucked out and was seated immediately at the bar, as it was hoppin Friday night. The bartenders were super friendly and attentive even though they were cranking out delicious cocktails for a full house. I ordered Print the Legend for a drink, the Celtuce Salad, and Black Pepper Beef for main. The beef was so tender and succulent, I might have liked it even a little spicier, but otherwise excellent. The salad was very well balanced, sweet, tangy, savory, and refreshing. Thanks for a great dining experience. Eying other people's food, I can't wait to come back and explore the menu.
