I've been wanting to go to Flaming Crab for years because it's called FLAMING CRAB, but I couldn't get my wife to go with me maybe because it's called Flaming Crab? But then I bet her the location of our next dinner date on a round of Scrabble and I thumped her good. So there we were, amidst nautical decor (two sharks!), non-subscription Doja Cat Spotify radio, and a handful of other patrons, ready to dine on a frigid Saturday night. Except first we had to decipher the menus--three of them, to use my math. Ordering at Flaming Crab is a trick question of sorts, where you're buffeted by a variety of options that, after studying them all (my wife was using a calculator at one point), really are the same option. You pick seafood--or sausage!--by the 1/2 pound, and then select your seasoning and heat level. We ordered the "Summer Special" as one does in late-January, cracked open an IPA (yes, FC is BYO), and donned our restaurant-provided, adult-sized plastic Flaming Crab bibs, but not our plastic gloves because that's weird and impractical. Then our server brought out MORE plastic, but this time it was in the form of a massive Under the Dome-like bubble that encased our 1/2 lb of blue crabs, 1/2 lb of snow crab legs, and 1/2 lb of clams--all swimming in a brick-red puddle of melted butter and cajun seasoning. I asked our very nice server if I should stab the bag with the provided shellfish picker, but instead she suggested the far less violent technique of gently twirling open the knot atop. All the seafood was tasty but the true culinary treat was taking the free garlic bread and dunking it into the spicy, buttery sludge that rests at the bottom of the bag after cleaning out all the food. Credit to my wife on that one, gastronomic experimentalist that she is. I wouldn't say that I felt great after eating at Flaming Crab, but a dinner bill of less than $40 for two is pretty fire these days. Fire. Flaming. Get it?

I wanna thank Travis and Darielys and the rest of his team for making my meals there memorable. Just went in today to celebrate the birth of my son and it was kind hearted laughter with the staff, the food came out fresh and without much of a wait and the quality was delicious. Can’t wait to visit there again!
