Made the mistake of not cooking this year for Thanksgiving. I researched restaurants to eat at. I decided on the Shantee because, it was close, I have been wanting to try this restaurant and I thought $28 pp was an OK price for a holiday buffet. We had reservations for 6. When we arrived, our table was for 12? The server took our drink order and told us we could go get our food. It was buffet style....food was in throw away metal pans. Went we got back to our table we realized we didn't have silverware. I Went to find our server. When I told her, she didn't move with purpose and took several minutes to bring it. There was no need to rush however because the food already wasn't hot. In fact, it wasn't even Luke warm. It was cold. All of it. The ham, Turley, sweet potatoes, Mashed potatoes, string beans ALL OF IT was cold. No point in complaining. We choked it down. Went to the bar to retrieve the lousy pie they had setting out. They didn't even have whipped cream. Lesson learned. I will go back to cooking. The pictures of the Bethlehem Steel were cool.

My first time trying Shanty's & I have nothing but positive things to say.Friendly service, welcoming atmosphere, tasty food. I recommend the sweet chili thai wings I was blown away & perfect level of crisp. There was a talented band playing that I didnt mind at all, They actually added to the experience. Will be back.

The food is incredible and priced right. You can get grub at the bar when a band is playing or sit at a table for waitress service. They have skills machines in the back room and a stage area in the front. The outside patio is nice for people watching during the warm months. Owner is an active participant in the business and it shows. Smoking outside only.Parking: There is a lot to park right next to the building, I've never had a problem finding room. Also Street Parking if you want.

This place has a very unique atmosphere. When we got there they were playing live music. People were having a blast. The food was pretty good. You get the sense that there is community around this place.

The staff at the Shanty are the best of the best! My son, my dog, and I were all stuck with a broken down car on a road trip from GA to NY. We made our way slowly to The Shanty because of their dog friendly patio to wait for family to get to us from NY. We had excellent food - the coconut shrimp salad is delicious - but even better service. I apologized to our server for being on the phone so much, and told her I was trying to locate a mechanic where I could drop off after hours, and upon hearing that, they launched into action! In no time, someone had checked my oil (!!! At a restaurant!!!), another had recommended a garage and offered me parking for the weekend, and another had contacted a family member mechanic to find me a place to take care of my ailing vehicle. They offered me to stay at a table well past being finished and paid while I waited, and in general, made me feel so safe and taken care of when I was feeling incredibly vulnerable.I would go back for the food anyway, but from now on, The Shanty will be my spot on my way through PA. I am so, so grateful for the kindness of this crew! Thank you to Joe, Christine, the bartender whose name I didn’t get, and our sweet server. You guys are amazing!

Good food. Reasonably priced.Update: Returned for a Mother's day outing. We were served a very old/spoiled tasting steak. It was kindly removed from the bill but appetites were spoiled.

Atmosphere was great because it was a quiet place with almost no one there on father's day but we struggled to get a cup of black coffee and had to wait quite a while for a refill cup. My meal came with components missing that were on the menu that I had to ask for, and over all none of it was great. My avocado toast was definitely guac from a container and my bread wasn't toasted or if it was it was barely toasted so it was pretty soggy. My husband's mixed drink didn't come until about 3/4 through the meal and that was because we had to ask for it more than once. The "regulars" seemed to get much more attentive service from the wait staff than we did. I'm sure if you know the staff and are a regular everything is probably great but definitely not a great experience my family had. Not a place for new customers based off that experience.
