“On the upside: the beer menu is extensive, wings are delicious and space is nice. On the downside: fries could be more fresh and service just a tidbit more attentive. The brick burger did took some time (as indicated in the menu) but was nice. The wings were splendid.”
“On a recent visit home I made a decision that I wanted to come here to eat, but mostly for the ice cream. It's rare that I know I want to go somewhere, but every so often I surprise everyone and pick a place. Pirates Cove is kind of an institution in the area, but mostly for the ice cream. Notice I keep saying something about the ice cream. There will be more to that later in the review. Obviously this place is more busy when it is peak summer in the area. When we arrived, it was nearing the end of the summer season and all the campers in the area were returning back to wherever they came from. We should have come for just the ice cream. We actually came and got dinner and then ice cream. I did a quick once over of the menu and didn't really see much that was appealing. I went with a reliable chicken tender dinner. Well, it's usually a reliable dinner. This was not the most pleasant chicken tender dinner. The highlight of this was not the chicken tendies, but the French fries were the highlight...that is until the ice cream. The chicken tenders were decent, but you can tell they were you run of the mill, out of the freezer, chicken tenders. I asked for barbecue sauce and had to wait for that to show up to start eating them. They weren't bad, until I reached the last one. They were stuck together and because of that, it wasn't cooked the whole way through. Where they connected, it was cold. Not to even mention that the vegetable, I chose green beans, tasted just like the can they came from the can and was heated in a microwave. But, let's talk about that ice cream. It was definitely worth the wait and agony. I kind of already knew what I wanted by the end of the meal. I had been eyeing up the ice cream menu during the whole meal. Pirates Cove's take on the blizzard is called a tornado. I had been craving some peanut butter and they have a Reese's Pieces Tornado. I went with the large size and even though it was huge, I did not regret it. After the less than stellar meal, I dug into that ice cream and was so happy. The ratio of ice cream to pieces was on point. Every bite I took had some pieces in it and it was a delight. It kind of erased the memory of the lackluster meal that I had.”

“We ate here when we were passing through. To say we were pleasantly surprised is an understatement. The food was fantastic and our waitress was amazing. We clearly wandered in just as some kind of major event was kicking off. In spite of that, the service was swift and accurate, and the manager/owner even wandered by to make sure our meal as good (it was). Everything from the appetizer to dessert was great. Unfortunately, we aren't likely to be back in that area, but if we are, we're eating here again.”

“Going home just doesn't feel like it used to compared to just a few short years ago for me. There's a number of reasons for that, but this isn't that type of review. One of the things I miss the most is the home cooked meals I would look forward to. Recently, those meals are far and few in between. On a recent trip my brother and I had decided to give this place a try. He had been here before, but this would be my first time. We ventured over and walked in. There wasn't much of a crowd and we were seated with menus in hand in no time. I did a once over of the menu quickly and spotted meatloaf. I don't know what it is about meatloaf on a menu, but I have to give it a try each and every time I see it. Our server was quick to take our order and we were just now going to wait until things started to arrive. I looked around the space as we waited and took it in. This place really does give off a small town vibe with the decor. My brother told me that the space is bigger when they use the other dining room as well. With it being not so busy, they had no need to use that part of the space. Unlike the one reviewer that said they get hit with a smell when they come in here, the only smell I got hit with was the food being prepared. We both started off with a side salad. It was a decent size, but I did have to pick through it a bit as there was some undesirable pieces of lettuce floating in the salad. They give you ample salad dressing so you can go all in or add as you go. Wasn't anything special, lettuce, tomato, onion and your dressing. Nice way to start off the meal. Then the main dish arrived. Like I said, I went with the meatloaf which came with two sides and a roll. For my sides I went with mashed potatoes and my choice of vegetable, corn. The choice of vegetable varies on what they have that day. You could tell that there were some shortcuts taken on some of the plate, but not the meatloaf. With gravy over the meatloaf and mashed potatoes it was the way to go. The meatloaf was seasoned nicely, it was overpowered by peppers or onions, it was just right. I did the Pennsylvania thing in me with the mashed potatoes and corn. I would take a glob of the potatoes and stick it in the corn to eat it. Not sure if anyone else does this, but I find it easier and sometimes the combination is spot on. The addition of the sweet corn to the potatoes gives is a buttery taste. While we were noshing away at our meal we got a bacon cheeseburger with fries to go for my Dad waiting at home. They cooked it at just the right time. As we were finishing up the meal I saw them placing the to go order near the counter. Almost perfect timing. Paying was easy and we headed out for the night.”

“I've done both dine in and takeout at Vito's. The staff are always cordial and the service is great. I always gauge pizza quality by plain slices. Vito's is always a 9+........Sauce is a 10 and crust is an 8.5. I prefer slices over whole pizzas as the crust is more done and crispy on re-heats. I've also had pasta and sandwiches here as well and they were great. Currently my favorite pizzeria is Western PA.”

“Forget Hub caps, Forget pirates cove, forget any pizza place in the 25 square miles from this place. This place makes the best pizza around hands down. But the cheesy bread, I swear you'll be going through rehab to get off of it its so dang delicious. But good luck backing out the place without someone gong 55 around the turn leaving/entering Patton”

“Not a bad place in a rural area tried their #10 cheesesteak omelet. Had a family breakfast here and it was delicious. It took awhile due to the large crowd we had so it was 1 hour and a half till our food came out. Service is wonderful. They also have a pool table. Pinball machine, claw machine, and Pacman.”

“We have been eating at hoss's for years, with a good variety of food and children under 5 eating free. The many restaurants have been a life saver for even our picky children as we have been moving. This hoss's in ebensburg is one of the most clean and organized ones of the franchise we have visited. We hosted our sons third birthday there last night in the free banquet room and they were more than accommodating, the waitress was friendly and attentive to our group and even brought our son a birthday cupcake and sang to him. Will be stopping at this in the future for sure as we travel between Pittsburgh and home. Highly recommend!Kid-friendliness: Kids under 5 eat free from a full stock soup and salad bar, which helps with picky eaters. They always offer coloring pages and a child friendly menu and go out of their way to provide a good family environment.”

“Personally I always get delivery and my delivery guy is the bomb. Really funny, fast delivery and the Stromboli is PHENOMENAL. Not a fan of the pizza but only because it's not the type of sauce+cheese combo I like. Wings are EVEN BETTER. Really crispy and awesome sauces. All for really great prices? In this economy?? Absolutely great. I'll order from Young's till the day I die lol.”

“This is a very small and a little run-down place, but my husband and I loved it. We have only gone two times so far, but did not have a bad experience either time. The first time was just my husband and I. The waitress recommended the Buffalo chicken fries, so we got them. We each got a burger (which they get locally), and since they come Ala cart, we figured why not. These fries came out on a huge platter smothered in chicken, cheese, and so much gooey goodness. They were AWESOME! We could not finish since we also ordered breaded mushrooms and cheese curds as well. No idea there would be so many fries. They are very good reheated too...surprising for fries. The burgers were also excellent. Fresh made patties, not frozen. This place is definitely a hidden gem. We took my son this past weekend, and he loved it as well.”
