What a disappointment from past visits, and now I know why there were so few people dining on yesterday for Thanksgiving dinner. In the past the place was always filled with patrons. Staff said upfront when we made the reservations that the Thanksgiving buffet would now include a plated entree and sides and the salads/dessert tables would be buffet. No problem, or so we thought. The plated entrees looked like they were thrown together by a hassled, hurried and overworked diner cook. Portions were ample (except for the salmon which was the size of a deck of cards), but the turkey breast was very dry and the mashed potatoes were a massive lump of flavorless starch. When the server set a square plate down on the table we had to ask what it was; she said it was the "plated sides." I asked her again what it was/what was on it, and she was unable to say what exactly was on the plate. Everything was lumped together and mixed up into a disgusting pile of food. The best we could guess is that there were mashed sweet potatoes, green beans with onions and Brussels sprouts. Because I have many food allergies I was afraid to eat any of the mess. Another member of our party tried the green beans but had to spit it out because it tasted off. The salad and dessert buffets met expectations, but overall this was a very disappointing experience. Next year we will find a better place for Thanksgiving dinner.

I have been coming there for 5yrs now. The food used to be enjoyable. It is now horrible. They can't even make a drink correctly. You have your waitresses running from one end of the dining room to the other. Waiting on tables. That is is horrible. You have all kinds of tables sitting there empty. Staff your restaurant to handle your customers that have chosen your restaurant to come to. We have chosen not to come back to your lack of concern for your customers!!

Used to go to the "Dining Room" in the 80s when I was a kid & decided to go back tonight as an adult. Four meals and two apps. One of the apps (hot wings) was sent back because they weren't cooked to order (ordered well-done and they were rubbery). Of the entrees, all were average, at best...and probably closer to bad, given the price. The filet was literally smaller than my fork (see pic) and the chicken/prosciutto was a dried-up mess. The remaining two fish entrees were regarded as "OK, but not worth the price." Cocktails to save the day? Nope. Old-fashioned was heavy on ice and basically whiskey with a muddled maraschino cherry. Went with a dirty martini next and waited literally 20 minutes for it. Giving two stars for the nostalgia of being at the races, but the food/drink experience was zero stars.

Forget trying to make reservations. Always the same response, “sorry, we are fully booked! Would you like to be added to the wait list”?

Having birthday dinners at this restaurant is somewhat of a tradition in our family. So for our daughter's 35th we made a reservation for 6. We really like to sit by the windows for the best view of the track, I had requested this on the reservation and we were accommodated. The seating was very comfortable. If you go, don't be in a hurry because service is slow. But we go to bet on the horses and plan to sit there for a while anyway, in fact we were at our table from 6 pm to 9 pm. I can't rave about the food but it wasn't bad either. It's more expensive than what we would pay for similar meals at local restaurants. Unfortunately my son-in-law was starving and they brought him the wrong meal so most of us were done eating by the time this was corrected. But we go more for a fun evening of placing a few $2 bets on horses than the actual meal. We'll go back.

Loved our experience - wonderful hostess, great waitress who tried to explain the live horse racing to us. Food and drinks were good too!

Service is too slow!!!!never coming again. Here for 50 minutes and still no food. Not crowded so no excuse. Ordered a salad and sandwich and chicken fingers. Nothing complicated.

Very comfortable seating arrangement for watching the races! Non smoking throughout which is great. Recently changed the menu with some nice options available along with daily specials. Expect to pay about $25 per person depending on alcohol, but seating is FREE as is parking (just paid $40 a table at Saratoga plus minimum food requirements). Therefore, as a venue to eat and watch the races this restaurant gets 5 stars. Hostess's are great and do their best to work thru the natural log jam at opening (doors only open at 5:30 and first race is 6 PM). The dress code is relaxed but the tables are nicely appointed with a TV at each table for watching the races or a less interested party could watch something else. I have been to race track restaurants around the world and throughout the country and Mountain Terrace is as nice as any of them and far better than most!

Love the dining room to watch the horse races. Went there on Saturday night for birthday dinner. Food and wine were awesome. Small problem with desert. Dinner was over by race 5. Mentioned to waitress twice I had a birthday cake coming for the desert for my party of four. Cake came after race 8 (final race). Icing was hard. I think they forgot about me and tried to thaw a cake last minute.

We have had the pleasure of eating here previously and have enjoyed the experience. This time it was a total failure. We had reservations and when we arrived there was a huge line which we still had to wait in to get checked in. Then it took quite a while but we finally got seated. Carol ordered a draft beer and I ordered my water, it was slow coming out, but we where in no hurry. When we received our drinks we ordered an appetizer, soft pretzel with crab on it they are usually very good. The appetizer took at least a half hour if not longer to come out end it came out fairly cold, then again we were not in a big hurry so we waited patiently and we had placed our dinner order so we just relaxed. We are now at an hour and a half sitting at a table and the waitress came to us and indicated that she was checking on our meal. After checking on our meal she indicated that it would be out shortly. After another half hour she returned and said that she was going to have the manager check on it if it wasn't out in the next 10 to 15 minutes we've already been at the table for over two hours. After discussing the situation with Carol we decided we weren't that hungry anymore. We canceled our entrée told her to prepare our bill we were leaving. While she was apologetic the bill came to $24 for a soft pretzel and a draft beer and a glass of water which did include the tip. We normally follow a three strike rule and this would count as the first strike however we're giving them two strikes on this one they failed on so many different levels, and it will be a long time before they get a chance at the third strike if ever.
