I’ve been here a few times because they tend to pull really good artists, but definitely not my favorite venue for live music. The bartenders are great but the security is another story.Last spring I attended a concert at HMAC and called my ride to come pick me up a bit early. It was cold outside and being a woman alone at a show in downtown Harrisburg, I decided to wait for my ride inside. I had to be in view of the doors because the parking at HMAC is always abysmal, so I was going to run out to meet my ride when they pulled up. The security staff kept badgering me about if my ride was there yet and basically implied I shouldn’t be waiting inside. I had a ticket to the concert and I had already been searched when I entered the building, so I failed to see a problem in me waiting there. They badgered me so much I ended up waiting outside in the cold instead. The venue is decent. The areas around the stages are on the small side for the crowds they draw, but I still manage to have fun there. The security team leaves a lot to be desired though.

I saw Hot Mulligan here on 3/23 and, while the band was phenomenal (as always; this was the 6th time I’ve seen them), this was hands down the absolute WORST venue I’ve ever been to. I’ve been to over 20 shows in the past year at almost just as many venues across the US, some good some bad, but this is the ONLY one where I will NEVER return no matter who’s playing.I’ll start with the good: it’s a pretty unique vibe, the downstairs bar area looks pretty cool, and they gave me free bottled water at one of the side bars upstairs. Those are the ONLY good things about this place. On to the negatives: I’ll start with the parking. It’s only street parking, and unless you get there really early you’re gonna have to drive around for blocks searching. If this was the only thing I wouldn’t be docking stars, but it’s farrrr from it.The main issue here is they clearly oversold tickets. We were absolutely packed in, with some people having to stand in the merch area. I’m no stranger to sold out shows, but this was absolutely ridiculous. I’m 5’2”, so being able to see is always a struggle, but I have ALWAYS been able to find some sort of vantage point at other venues. I could not even move in the crowd here let alone find somewhere I could actually see anything besides a sliver of the singer’s head when he stood on one specific spot on the stage.Which brings me to the MOST CONCERNING aspect of the entire thing: there is literally one stairwell and an elevator to get out of this second floor venue. I have never ever ever had so much trouble exiting a venue. I’m talking standing for 15-20 mins amongst a crowd slowly shuffling toward the exit, having to enter the stairwell in basically a single file line. The fire marshall absolutely needs to shut this place down; over a thousand people having to leave in a single file line is ridiculous. If there had been a fire the majority of us would’ve been dead for sure. Adding insult to injury, some security lady walked around screaming at us to leave bc they’re closed… like lady.. we’re clearly trying to????Also, looking through the views I noticed the owner’s passive aggressive and often downright rude responses to the negative reviews here.. that is extremely classless unprofessional.First picture is of the ONLY exit besides an elevator (which you can’t use in the case of a fire…). And somehow they were letting people stand in the doorway to try to get to the merch line, further clogging up the exit, when they could’ve just gone down and come back up on the elevator.. Second was my view of the stage, and that’s even slightly above eye level.I’m overall disgusted with the venue, owner, and staff. I paid $80 (resale, bc this is my favorite band) just to enter a massive fire hazard and stare at the back of people’s heads. NEVER again.

I attended an event at a different venue where one of the owners of hmac attended with his family. COMPLETELY obnoxious, entitled behavior. Standing in front of seated guests, loud talking over an acoustic set, SINGING OVER THE PERFORMERS!!!!!, allowed family to use another couple's table for their food order, then decided to SIT AT THE TABLE WITH THE COUPLE! The young couple left and after we "shooshed" the man and his daughter, and explained that the couple left because of them, he responded "yeah, well, they're losers" Ridiculous behavior from someone who is supposed to care about the live music experience. Be better, dude.

Surprising venue in the heart of Harrisburg!! Large enough to accommodate a wide variety of events yet charming enough to be your daily after work chill spot with poetry, karaoke, and trivia... Don't forget their huge kitchen and talented bartenders... Love love love this place!!!

It's my favorite venue in all of Pennsylvania. I love the downstairs lounge and bar area to sit inside and relax before a concert. Great bar food and strong drinks.

It was a little cold in there as we all watched Jessica Kirson on stage on the 1st. I wasn't happy with her performance but I guess it is what it is.
